Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed clinician to support us to deliver exceptional specialist care and support for adults and children with a life-limiting illness and their families in Buckinghamshire and west Hertfordshire.

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is a charity providing care and support for patients diagnosed with cancer and other life-limiting illness and their families. Every year through our 24/7 Hospice at Home service, our Family Support services and the range of Day Services at Grove House we give thousands of patients in Herts and Bucks the choice to stay at home, surrounded by their families and friends.

We need to develop our role in the provision of palliative and end of life care to ensure everyone we care for receives the right support, when they need it, to make every moment together matter. In a challenging regulatory environment it is essential that our clinical services are of the best quality.

We have an ambition of working across our local health and social care system to ensure we support, and play our part in, commissioning for outcomes and that it is comprehensive and coordinated.  Access to palliative and end of life care needs to be available to people at the earliest opportunity so that they can benefit from living their life as fully and as well as they possibly can.

Rennie Grove is looking for a strategic thinker with a strong healthcare influencing background to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions relating to meeting the needs of everyone living with life-limiting illness in Herts and Bucks and to shape the service improvements that will be required to achieve this.

Applicants should have some senior management experience as well as extensive clinical experience in community care and have shown ability to enable change management. Ideally, we would want applicants to be active in clinical practice, although this is not essential.

All Trustees are expected to have skills and experience from their professional background and for Clinical Trustees the following are examples of some of the areas of expertise expected:

  • Risk management
  • Quality standards and requirements of the Care Quality Commission
  • Safeguarding (adults and children)
  • Data management
  • Keen interest in professional education, research and development
  • Developments within the field of palliative care.
