We're looking for enthusiastic and passionate people to help shape the strategy of our branch, maximising our income to help us deliver maximum benefit to the animals we serve.

The key activities of the role are:

• Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA - Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.
• Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS) - In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Partnership Manager write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out the short and long term aims of your branch.
• Actively participate in branch committee meetings and to attend the branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
• Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support local initiatives.
• Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members - In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch.

We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the following areas: Strategic planning; Finance including accounting, budgeting; Marketing communication including social media, PR, website; Fundraising including corporate fundraising, trust fund and grant applications; Local community and supporter relationships; Hands-on experience in growing charities; and/or you are or have been part of the groups and communities we would like to attract.

Alongside the relevant experience, we are looking for someone who is committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objectives and shares our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective, and can put ideas into action.

The role is largely home based, but we have veterinary clinics in Chelmsford and Colchester, plus 4 charity shops (Frinton, Maldon, Chelmsford & Lexden).

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, we are a busy branch requiring 2-3 hours additional commitment per week from our Trustees.

Our mission is to help and support homeless and vulnerably housed people in and around the London Borough of Merton. We operate a twice-weekly Drop-in, currently welcoming 50-60 individuals each day, while our Winter Night Shelter provides a warm, dry place to sleep every night during the coldest nights of the year – this winter from 4 December until 10 March 2024.

Our current Secretary is retiring, having completed the maximum of nine years in the role. We’re now looking for an enthusiastic and committed volunteer for the role which covers the following positions:

1. Company secretary
2. Secretary to the Trustees

The current incumbent fulfils both roles but we would consider splitting the responsibilities if two complementary applications were received.

The Company Secretary & Secretary is a volunteer with an active role in the work of the organisation. The Faith in Action Merton Homelessness Project (FIAMHP) Board of Trustees, Company Secretary & Secretary, together with senior staff, form the Management Committee of the Charity.

Company Secretary’s responsibilities:

The Company Secretary keeps the organisation legal by:

• Working with Trustees to ensure that the Charity complies with its Articles of Association, charity law, company law, employment law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

• Ensuring that the Trustees are aware of the requirement to comply with relevant codes such as the Code of Conduct for Charity Trustees and the Charities Governance Code, and that these are adhered to.

• Ensuring that the Articles of Association reflect the current work of the Charity, liaising with the Charity Commission and Companies House as appropriate if an update is needed.

• Liaison with Treasurer as needed.

• Filing annual Confirmation Statements and other Company Returns including the annual Trustees Report & Accounts with Companies House and the Charity Commission by the due dates.

• Advising Companies House and the Charity Commission of changes to Company and Charity details by the due dates – this includes Trustee appointments and resignations.

• Maintaining the statutory records.

• Monitoring the composition of the Trustee board, and liaising with the Chair and other Trustees to ensure that new Trustees are recruited as necessary, so that all roles needed are covered. Organising new Trustee applications and interviews, and obtaining references.

• Organising and running the Annual General Meeting, and any other General Meetings required.

• Any other duties which may reasonably arise.

Secretary’s duties

The job of the FIAMHP Secretary is to assist the Trustees in the smooth running of the organisation by:

• Organising Management Committee meetings in consultation with the Chair and other Trustees: setting meeting dates and venues; producing meeting agendas, receiving and sending out meeting notices and papers, checking that meetings are quorate, taking meeting minutes, liaising with the Chair and other Trustees as necessary; sending out draft minutes.

• Assist with liaison between Trustees, Staff and Volunteers as needed.

• Awareness of the work of the organisation and the needs of its guests and service users.

• Ensuring that decisions and actions of the Board of Trustees are accurately recorded and implemented.

• Maintaining an appropriate and secure filing system so that all Trustee papers are retained and accessible.

• Assisting with Business Plan development and the Trustees’ Annual Report as required.

• Ensuring that Policies and Risk Register are filed and accessible to all who need access.

• Tracking progress with implementation of the organisation’s Business Plan.

• Ensuring that any correspondence for Trustees is brought to the attention of the Board.

• Any other duties which may reasonably arise.

The Company Secretary and Secretary must have:

● Commitment to the Charity and its work.

● Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of being a Company Secretary

● Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as Company Secretary and Secretary

● Strategic vision

● Good independent judgement

● Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Faith in Action Merton Homelessness Project (FiA)

Finance Director (FD) and Trustee

This role includes joining the current team of Trustees, who together have overall responsibility for the successful running of the Charity.

Key responsibilities of the FD are:

● Overall responsibility for the finances and accounting of the charity

● Overseeing the preparation and presentation to the Board of Trustees of: Five-year business plan; Annual budget; Monthly P&L and cash account compared to budget; Outturn forecast if/when necessary; Annual accounts

● Work with the Company Secretary and Chair to prepare and present the Annual Report

● Oversee financial management and operations, and manage internal financial controls, ensuring that we adhere to Charity Commission guidelines at all times

● Liaison with FiA’s auditors

● Being a bank signatory

● Oversee all business relationships/contracts to ensure best value

● Report on financial matters to Trustees and make recommendations as necessary

● Attend Trustee meetings (usually around 10 pa),

● Recommend pay rises and annual bonuses for FiA’s team of eight staff

● Authorise payments up to £1,000 (note: payments above £1,000 should be referred to the Trustees) Estimated time commitment: 6-10 hours per month

Bookkeeper

Key responsibilities are:

● Maintaining an up-to-date cash account and summarising the position monthly for preparation of reports

● Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

● Accounting for Gift Aid and submitting payment applications to HMRC

● Overseeing the management of the payroll and submission of documentation to HMRC, and any stakeholder pension arrangements (note: the payroll is managed on a bureau basis by Wimbledon Guild)

● Payment of regular bills

● Authorise payments up to £500 (note: manager to sign off payments up to £200) Estimated time commitment: 8-10 hours per month.

Our organisation has great demand but has suffered over the last 12 months due to reduced funding. We seek Trustees with fundraising experience or from the LGBTQI+ community who can help us as we continue to meet our growing needs.

What will you be doing?

We are currently looking for two new Trustees. Our Trustees are like a non-executive board of directors - although they are not involved in the day-to-day running of the charity, they oversee what we do and make sure we stay on track, meeting 4 times per year in Accrington or via Teams for up to 2 hours at a time. In between meetings, the charity's management and admin team might call on the trustees for particular issues with which they need help or support, such as proofreading funding applications, working on developing specific projects using a trustee's contacts or area of expertise, or simply when a sounding board for new ideas is needed.

Our trustees may also come to our events a few times a year to keep up with what we are doing - this is arranged as convenient for the trustees.

New trustees will be joining our board, which currently stands at 5. The only absolute requirements are that you are interested in and enthusiastic about what we do and that you are willing to work to support the charity using any skills, knowledge, or contacts that you have that may be relevant. 

What are we looking for?

We are currently looking to grow and expand and are particularly keen to hear from potential trustees from the 

LGBTQI+ community or who have fundraising experience. However, if you are interested and have other skills or experience, please do get in touch - we welcome interest from all potential Trustees, regardless of their skills or background, as long as they are enthusiastic about what we do and are keen to support our work. We particularly welcome applications from women and from people of colour as we are looking to improve the diversity of our board.

The RYC is going through a rough time at the moment as we respond to increased demand and reduced funding.Your presence and work on our Board of Trustees could help us reach hundreds of children and young people across the North-West who are the most vulnerable in our society. Living with issues such as eating disorders, anxiety, self-harm or suicidal tendencies, these young people are forgotten by mainstream clubs, therefore missing out on the social benefits of having friends or a safe space to connect or ask for help, especially in the wake of COVID-19 and the cost-of-living crisis.

Students4Students is a member led national organisation which has c.100 members split across 4 branches. As a CIO it has a duty to engage with members and provide members the opportunity to elect trustees and hold the leadership to account for decisions at an AGM. Historically these AGMs have been ill attended and election of Trustees have been decided by a small number of members who hold branch committee positions. Students4Students wants to improve the level of participation in our internal democracy and ensure that AGMs are appealing and relevant to all members.

The organisation also wants to increase engagement with its members, all year round, outside of the AGM. Students4Students is looking to build new channels of engaging with members, ensuring trustees and leadership are held to account throughout the year.

Responsibilities and duties

The post-holder will be responsible for engaging members in Students4Students internal democracy and ensuring the organisation meets its responsibilities as a CIO

Students4Students is a member led charity, that has been operating for seven years, with c.100 current members across our four branches. As a member led organisation, we invest heavily in involving our volunteers in our decision-making processes and building a sense of community.

However, our volunteer base is predominantly students and is therefore by nature continually changing. This makes it more difficult for us to foster long term relationships with our volunteers. We have therefore recently established an alumni network to extend the reach of our community. We are looking for someone to help us grow our alumni network and build deeper connections with those in the network.

The post-holder will be responsible for:

• Owning and managing the processes for how S4S interacts with existing members of our alumni network and increasing membership.

Voluntary Administration Officer

ETS is a growing UK based Christian charity, which is looking to expand its discipleship and evangelism training throughout the UK.

We are looking for a person of faith, who can identify with our aims and has some experience with administration. Although this is a voluntary position, we anticipate that this role will be salaried at some point in the future.

The role will involve providing support for the two Directors in their weekly activities. This will involve emailing church leaders, providing database support, booking hotels and flights, organising events, PowerPoint presentations, zoom meetings, liaising with both our Fundraising and Marketing Officers, inputting financial data into a spreadsheet, and producing reports.

ETS is based in Peterborough, but we expect any applicant to work from home/remote (hybrid) and attend meetings over zoom. Therefore, we will only accept applicants who are UK based. There may be occasional team meetings at Allia Business Centre, Peterborough, but traveling costs will be reimbursed along with other approved expenses.

Salary: This is a voluntary role and you are expected to pay your own taxes

Hours of work: This is a part-time role of 2 days per week (10 hours) but can be carried out at different times during the week.

This contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension

Walk to Independence (WTI) is an emerging charity committed to bridging the gap in support services for adults with special educational needs (SEN) transitioning out of formal education settings. Our mission is to establish a nurturing environment where SEN individuals can foster independence, empowerment, and community integration. The Clean Something For Nothing app, connects people to clean the world, one bag of trash at a time. We envision to live in a litter free world with a conscious and collaborative society. Since the launch of the CSFN app in 2022, our users completed 4000+ cleanups in 65 countries resulting in over 826.579 Kg of trash removed from nature.

Clean Something For Nothing (CSFN) aims to address the environmental challenge of littering.

• Over 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in the oceans each year
• 136000 cigarette butts are thrown into the world every second
• If we don't act in 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the sea

Littering is a big problem that harms wildlife and human lives costing dozens of billions of euros to tackle it. We aim for a change that starts from grassroots citizen actions.

We believe in the power of community engagement and technology to combat litter pollution. Through our app, CSFN empowers individuals to take simple actions by cleaning up litter in their neighborhoods. By providing a user-friendly interface for tracking, sharing, and celebrating clean-up efforts, we incentivize citizens to make a positive impact on their surroundings. Small efforts repeated by many, lead to global changes.

BRANDING AND MARKETING CONSULTANT

• We seek expert help to shape, define and re-brand CSFN new value proposition. Help us define a new marketing strategy oriented to 1kg +1 tree: 2 euros; implement that strategy for B2B (Companies, municipalities, foundations); and, provide support to implement cohesive brand strategy aligned with our values and archetypes.
