Job Description

Secret World Wildlife Rescue specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of orphaned and injured wild creatures. It is run entirely on donations and runs a wildlife rescue service in the South West of England.

Each year, more than 5,000 wild animals are helped by Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Together with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we continue to care for all manner of creatures, from the tiniest harvest mice and bats to badgers, swans, foxes, deer and otters.

As a front line member of Secret World, reception volunteers, supported by members of the animal care team, deal with an interesting array of enquires about orphaned and injured casualties . The reception team manage and coordinate rescues with volunteer response drivers, admit casualties, assist with sales in the shop and a multitude of other duties.

Demand at Secret World is very seasonal, with October to March being quieter months and mid spring through to autumn being exceptionally busy times. The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure during the busy season is very important. The phone lines sometimes don’t stop ringing during this period so being able to multitask is a great asset. Although demanding at times, it is also an exceptionally important, interesting and rewarding role
