We're setting up a new youth charity called REMIX and looking for a volunteer to join us in the role of Head of Programmes and Impact who can help us get REMIX set up and oversee the management of our amazing programmes for young people in London and beyond.
REMIX aims to be a dynamic youth-focused charity passionate and committed to empowering young people from deprived areas and disadvantaged backgrounds across London and beyond by creating opportunities and experiences that address the holistic needs of young people, that EMPOWER young people and INSPIRE change that puts them on a path to TRANSFORM their lives for the better. Our evidence-based programmes will focus on developing essential life skills, fostering healthy lifestyles, and unlocking personal growth by experienced and dedicated positive role models in a safe and non judgemental environment, helping young people discover themselves and the world around them.
We're looking for volunteer Head of Programmes and Impact:
The volunteer role of Head of Programmes and Impact at REMIX is pivotal in shaping and overseeing the charity’s initiatives to ensure they deliver significant social change in young peoples lives. Here are some of the key tasks and duties associated with this role:
- Design and implement programmes that align with REMIX’s strategic vision, ensuring they are effective and impactful.
- Develop and apply robust metrics to assess and report on the effectiveness of the programmes, ensuring they achieve the desired outcomes.
- Work closely with the leadership team to refine and advance REMIX’s programme strategy, contributing to its overall mission and goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, funders, and young people to enhance programme reach and impact.
- Lead and inspire the programmes team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure optimal use of resources for programme delivery and impact maximisation, including managing budgets and staff.
- Champion the charity’s mission and values, representing the organisation at various forums and engaging with the community.
- Get involved in other activities that support the work of the charity, always seeking ways to improve and expand our programmes and our reach.

Our Trustees will play a crucial role in the governance and success of REMIX and we are looking for dedicated volunteers who can help REMIX become an amazing youth charity in London and beyond.
At REMIX you will;
- Uphold the Charity’s Mission, ensuring that REMIX is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit and adhering to its mission and values.
- Comply with the charity’s governing document and charity law requirements.
- Act in the charity’s best interests, setting and reviewing the strategic direction and policies.
- Manage the charity’s resources responsibly, ensuring they are used effectively and safeguarded for the future.
- Act with reasonable care, skill, and diligence, using personal knowledge and experience to guide the charity.
- Ensure that the charity is accountable to its beneficiaries, the public, the Charity Commission, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and manage risks that could impact the charity’s operations, finances, or reputation.
- Oversee the charity’s financial affairs, ensuring proper accounting records are kept and financial resources are spent in line with the charity’s objectives.
- Contribute to the charity’s fundraising strategy and efforts to secure resources for sustainability and growth.
- Act as an ambassador for the charity, advocating for its cause and building relationships with potential supporters and partners.
- Regularly review the charity’s goals, activities, and outcomes to ensure they align with the mission and make the intended impact.
- Advise and give support to the Founder and CEO and the wider team where needed.
- Other duties relevant to a Trustee of a new start-up charity.

The Vice Chairs’ role is to support the Chair in executing their duties. The Vice Chair continues to fulfil all those duties assumed when he/she became a trustee as outlined in the document The Trustee Board, Role and Responsibilities. The Vice Chair will assume the role of Chair in the absence of the chair. To this end, their duties are similar in that the Vice Chair will be expected to provide leadership in giving firm strategic direction to the charity and will be responsible for ensuring that the board meets regularly, keeps transparent records, agrees priorities, and ensures that the charity’s income sources, and expenditure allow it to meet its charitable aims. This includes:
- Ensuring the Chair has all information he/she requires in order to carry out their role to the best of their ability.
- The Vice Chair will discuss and offer his/her advice to the Chair based on her understandingof the charity’s’ vision, values, mission, strategy and policy when the documents are due to be reviewed.
- The Vice Chair may be, on occasion expected to represent the Chair at external functions and events. The Vice Chair must always act in the best interest of the charity.
- The Vice Chair will act as a point of contact for the trustees and others between formal meetings when the chair is unavailable.
- The Vice Chair will ensure that regular meetings are held between the Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to discuss any managerial issues and strategy.
- The Vice Chair must remain abreast of the laws and regulations relating to the charity’s’ activities.
- The Vice Chair will support the Chair in monitoring the financial stability of the charity.
At Teenage Helpline, we are a tight-knit community of people who are passionate about make a difference in the lives of young people across the UK
Teenage Helpline is an online peer-to-peer mentoring service for young people. We can act as the first stepping-stone for young people who do not feel comfortable seeking support for themselves, or who need a listening ear to help them cope with personal issues.
All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers. We have great systems in place to allow our employees and volunteers to get to know each other, work effectively together and do great work!
We are a flexible organisation that values the contributions of everyone. We will never ask more from our volunteers and employees than they can give, but we are sure to celebrate and recognise their efforts.
About the role
The CFO holds the overall responsibility of the financial health of Teenage Helpline. Their role is to drive growth in income and manage expenditure to a high level, whilst holding the team to account for their actions. Your role is to maintain professional customs, enforce ethical practices, meet targets, and manage organisation budgets.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Director of Teenage Helpline with direct oversight of the Board of Directors. Your key responsibility is always to protect and uphold the reputation and principles of the organisation.
- Delegate job activities effectively to ensure optimal performance of all operations departments.
- Design roles as needed and ensure the effective recruitment of individuals to fill those roles successfully.
- Analyse, review, and develop organisation strategies to ensure their ongoing effectiveness and improvement.
- Develop and drive key performance indicators that evaluate the success and effectiveness of Teenage Helpline finances.
- Hold all departments responsible for the financial health of Teenage Helpline accountable for their results.
- Think at a strategic level with the intent to continuously improve and grow the financial health and position of Teenage Helpline and drive industry best practices. Strategic thinking should involve both continuous development and a growth mindset.
- Continue to define the roles and responsibilities of the finance departments at all time to ensure they are suitable for the context that Teenage Helpline is operating in.
- Ensure that all statutory and regulatory reporting is completed.

At the heart of the BSO lies the pivotal role of the Area Lead Volunteer (previously called Area Commissioner). As the guiding force, you'll spearhead the BSO Leadership Team, inspiring and mobilising volunteers to provide exceptional experiences and life-enriching skills to our youth. Your mandate includes ensuring a well-organised and adequately staffed Area team capable of delivering outstanding programmes.
Your pivotal responsibility involves implementing the Area’s 2018-25 Strategy. You will be rallying Area, District and Group Lead Volunteers and their teams to align with its objectives. This entails motivating and supporting volunteers to achieve the Growth, Youth Shaped, Community Impact, and Inclusivity targets outlined in our strategy.
As the leader of the BSO Team, you will bolster Scouting throughout the Area by nurturing volunteer development, enriching section programmes, and providing operational support. Additionally, you'll maintain a vibrant volunteer cohort in the Explorer and Network sections, establishing a well-regarded 14-24 provision within our multiple international communities.
Leading a team of dedicated volunteers passionate about delivering exceptional Scouting experiences to every young person is at the core of this role.
