Unpaid role, expenses paid
Voluntary, A few hours per month
Job description

The Sentencing Academy is seeking to appoint three new Trustees to our Board of Trustees to join our existing four members.

Who we are

Launched in 2019, the Sentencing Academy is a charitable incorporated organisation that seeks to promote efficient and effective sentencing practices in England and Wales and to improve public understanding of sentencing.

Trustee role

We anticipate that 2022 will be a transformative year for the Sentencing Academy as we have funding in place to significantly increase our activities around research, communications and policy work in the coming year. By joining the Board of Trustees, you will be able to directly influence our organisational priorities through your input into our expansion plans. The Board has an important role in advising the Directors on strategic planning so new Trustees would be joining at a key time in the organisation’s development.

The Board meets three to four times per year in London – but occasional remote attendance is possible. Although unremunerated, travel expenses may be claimed for attendance at meetings and events. The appointment will be for a period of three years.

Knowledge and experience

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with the following areas of expertise:

  • Media and communications
  • Finance and accounting
  • Professional experience of working within the criminal justice system
