Small Steps Project is a UK charity providing shoes, emergency aid and sustainable solutions for children living on landfill sites. Our annual fundraiser, now in its ninth year, is the world's biggest celebrity shoe auction attracting donations from some of the most famous stars in the world including Paul McCartney, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Ricky Gervais, John Travolta, Andrew Garfield, Russell Crowe, Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, Cher, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Benedict Cumberbatch, all of whom generously use their celebrity profile to raise funds and awareness for barefoot children living on toxic landfill sites.
As a Celebrity Liaison Volunteer, your main duties will include:
As well as requesting celebrity shoes, there are many other opportunities within the role depending on your skills from using social media to writing press releases.
You will be provided with training, contacts, templates and everything you need to be able to perform these duties.
This a great opportunity to gain experience of working for a charity and learning how events are put together.
The celebrity shoe auction is a high profile annual event which guarantees all the money raised goes directly and solely to the charity in order to deliver our projects. All the companies involved with Smalll Steps Project from photographers, event organisers and printing services, provide their services pro bono, so it really does raise funds for the charity and no one else's profits apart from the beneficiaries.
It is our main fundraiser and is what allows us to deliver sustainable projects and really change lives for children on landfill sites around the world. It also raises awareness of the inhumane conditions in which they live and the importance of the work of the charity. By taking the donations of shoes from the rich and famous, we are directly turning them into funds which not only pay for shoes for the children, but help them take small steps out of poverty. We could not do it without the help of our dedicated volunteers.
Our volunteers make a huge difference by helping the charity fund its objectives and raising funds to provide aid and care. Not only that, we're a small charity putting on a massive campaign and making a significant impact with it.
We aim to persuade people to think about their waste, the disparity between rich and poor, and attempitng to rebalance world in our own small way.
We have a small friendly team all working together to make a difference.
