Overview
Healthwatch Greenwich aims to provide a befriending service to support individuals in need of companionship and emotional support.
Our befriending service will pair clients with volunteers who will talk to them for up to an hour each week. This could be face to face, by telephone, or online.
Befrienders will signpost clients to wider activities as appropriate.
What You'll Do:
· You will be working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to:
· Offer face-to-face, phone, or virtual befriending support for up to one hour per week for three months.
· Write befriending updates after each meeting.
· Collect demographic information.
· Attend monthly support sessions.
What You'll Learn:
· How to improve your communication skills.
· How to use active listening.
· How to find activities for clients.
· How to write client updates and gather demographic data.
We offer a comprehensive induction and training to support you to carry out this role please note all volunteers undergo reference and DBS checks.

We are looking to recruit an Activities Volunteer for the Croydon Group. As our local group Activities Volunteer you’ll help us to set up activities in the area. Whether you’re serving refreshments, talking to people, registering attendees or collecting payments, you’ll be making sure everyone feel welcome.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills. Most importantly you’ll be supporting your local group to run activities that bring friendship and fun to your local MS Community.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need up to two hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

We are looking for volunteer drivers to join our hospice team and assist patients with getting to and from appointments. By collecting patients from their homes and bringing them to the hospice and then ensuring them get home safely, you will have a key role in the team.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Collect patients from their homes on a prearranged day and time and bring them to the hospice
- Return patients back home at the end of the day services session, out-patient appointment or discharge from ward
- Ensure patients gain safe entry to their home
- Refer all medical, social and personal problems expressed by patients to staff
- Help with other related tasks when necessary

We are looking for volunteers to join our Complementary Therapy team and donate their time and professional skills as a therapist to support our hospice patients. This role will make a huge difference to the lives of those requiring end-of-life care. Massage or reflexology qualification essential
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Provide a rounded approach to patients and their families to ensure the highest quality of care is given
- Be aware of patients’ diagnosis, treatment and care before giving complementary therapies
- Able to adapt a therapy, when required
- Keep to the code of ethics and practice laid down by the governing body of the therapy and to Marie Curie’s policy for complementary therapists
- Continue your professional development to refine or learn new skills
- Attend any relevant or training sessions held by the Day Care Unit or Hospice

We are looking for a volunteer to help the kitchen catering team provide tasty meals and snacks for patients, relatives, staff and other volunteers in the hospice wards and cafeteria.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:\
- Wash dishes and keep kitchen areas clean
- Clean dining room tables and restock cutlery and crockery
- Simple food preparation after basic training
- Carry out all kitchen tasks in line with health and safety regulations

What is Healthwatch?
Healthwatch Hounslow is an independent organisation set up to champion the views of health and social care service users. It strives to make sure that health and social care services are meeting local needs and to ensure that the public’s voice is heard regarding how local services are run. Healthwatch also makes sure that the public is informed on any plans to change those services, and in identifying gaps in services.
About the role
Your Voice in Health and Social Care (YVHSC) are looking for local residents interested in becoming part of Healthwatch. We are looking for people to join our Advisory Committee with local knowledge, experience and passion for promoting better health and social care for local people.
The committee acts as an advisory group supporting the local staff team with projects and monitoring the progress of the service. The Healthwatch Hounslow Advisory Committee also plays important representational and public relations roles working with local communities and key partners to drive influence and impact, and improve health and social care services for residents.
Overall governance, responsibility, and all liabilities rest with YVHSC Board of Directors.
Tasks

Oversee delivery of Healthwatch Hounslow projects and services, working with your fellow committee members and the committee chair.

Attend committee meetings and additional project meetings where required.

Contribute to the monitoring and scrutiny of health and social care services in the Borough of Hounslow on behalf of patients, service users, carers and residents.

Identify, approve and oversee a range of projects through evaluation of impact and publishing of reports.

To be involved, as the outward face of Healthwatch Hounslow at community events and strategic meetings, demonstrating leadership and taking an active role in community and stakeholder engagement, and through this work ensuring that Healthwatch is reaching and representing the diverse communities of the borough.

Provide appropriate advice, support and challenge to the Healthwatch Hounslow staff.

Build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders, including members of the public, patients, service users, carers, community and voluntary sector organisations, Healthwatch England, Care Quality Commission, NHS funded providers, Integrated Care Board, Health & Wellbeing Board, and the Local Authority.

Ensure that Healthwatch Hounslow is represented on the Health and Wellbeing Board and plays a proactive role in decisions relating to the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, planning, commissioning and delivery of health and social care.

Requirements of Committee Members:

Flexible schedule - Time commitment varies between 3-10 hours a month on a flexible schedule. Committee meetings vary but are roughly once every two months. There may be other events and meetings that you are requested to attend.

Experience of the health and social care sector in the Borough of Hounslow, for example medical students & practitioners, third sector workers, those with experience working with the Local Authority or the Integrated Care System at large..

Must be good at working as part of a collaborative team.

Must be willing to commit to self-development – Committee members are encouraged to identify personal training and development needs, and seek opportunities for development, attending training events as required.

Diligence and attention to detail - Committee members are expected to prepare adequately for meetings they attend, making sure they read through reports and other documents.
