It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Streetlink London Phone Line Volunteer, you will be connecting people who are sleeping rough to local support services in their area that can help to end their homelessness. You will be taking phone calls from people who are sleeping rough, and linking them to vital support services, to help end their rough sleeping. As a phone line service, it’s important to note that this role provides support to those sleeping rough over the phone, and not face to face. This volunteering role is a great opportunity to not only learn about resources and provision available to those sleeping rough, but to also play an incredibly vital role in helping to end people’s homelessness.
Please note we are particularly seeking applicants who can fill our weekday daytime hours.
In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:
- Supporting with a high volume of calls and alerts via our website and mobile app from members of the public and people who are sleeping rough themselves.
- Creating detailed alerts for local outreach teams so that people rough sleeping are found as quickly as possible.
- Signposting people experiencing homelessness to other homeless support services.
- Educating callers on a variety of issues related to homelessness.
- Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
Do I need to have any specific skills?
- Confidence in answering phone calls and a warm telephone manner.
- Excellent IT skills (word processing, data entry, Google maps).
- A friendly personality and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Enthusiasm and motivation.
- An understanding of the causes of homelessness and its impact.
- Genuine interest in and commitment to St Mungo’s work and client group.

As an Outreach Volunteer you will be assisting Outreach Workers to carry out shifts, adding vital capacity to the team, and enabling us to engage with more rough sleepers who have been referred both via StreetLink and those already known to the team. You will support with navigation, client assessments and note taking while engaging with rough sleeping clients with sensitivity and respect.
What will I be doing?
In this role, you will be supporting us with some or all of the following tasks:

- Helping clients access support around immigration, employment and reconnections and accommodation.

We are looking for dedicated Outreach Volunteers in the London Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond and Wandsworth. We would particularly like to hear from you if you live in or near the above boroughs.
The Outreach teams encounter people on their first steps from homelessness to independence – providing pathways and support to assist people off the streets.
We work with people who are rough sleeping and we do shifts late at night, and early in the morning, to find these individuals. SPEAR then works with people on a housing pathway and assists them to link into various support services, tailored to the challenges an individual might face.
SPEAR is looking for self-motivated, outgoing, and empathic people who could volunteer to provide support to vulnerably housed, rough sleepers, or anyone using homelessness services in the London boroughs of Richmond, Wandsworth and Kingston.
The volunteer will enjoy developing positive relationships with new people and will be willing to work outside of their own comfort zone providing support and assistance to the Outreach Teams clients. The volunteer must have an enhanced DBS background check (SPEAR will apply for this on your behalf.)
It would be desirable if you had a driving license.

As an Outreach volunteer you will be assisting outreach workers to support Romanes or Romanian speaking clients face-to-face or over the phone. Other tasks involved in this role will include helping clients access support around immigration, employment, reconnections, and accommodation, to have a good understanding of the Roma communities and have knowledge of the UK EUSS requirements while understanding the rights clients have with pre settled statues and settled statues. For this role it is required that you can speak Romanes or Romanian fluently or to a high level.
In this role, you will be supporting us with some or all of the following tasks:

Trustee Role
The Developers Club Foundation is seeking dedicated individuals to join our existing Board of Trustees, which consists of 6 individuals. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to supporting the housing and professional development of young adults at risk of long-term youth homelessness. We believe that providing quality accommodation and mentorship can be life-changing for generations to come.
Role Description:
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of The Developers Club Foundation. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective governance and financial stability of the organisation, as well as overseeing the implementation of our charitable initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend fortnightly board meetings and contribute actively to discussions during the setup phase. Meetings will transition to quarterly once the setup phase is complete.
- Provide guidance and oversight on the organisation's strategic direction.
- Review and approve budgets, financial reports, and fundraising plans.
- Support the fundraising efforts of the organisation.
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation and promote its mission and values.
Skills and Experience:

We are looking for an Art and Craft Group volunteer who can facilitate sessions with groups of clients. We are seeking someone who can support and empower clients through providing them with a regular creative outlet and enable them to pick up skills and tips on the way! We believe that everyone has strengths, and you will need to be able to facilitate sessions in a way that is inclusive of all abilities.
In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:
- Coming up with art and craft activities each week that meet the needs of the group. • Supporting clients to take part in activities
- Supporting staff in your service to buy in relevant materials needed for different projects.
- Provide clients with a sense of routine thanks to the regular activities
- Introduce new skills to clients or expand their knowledge

Connection Support is a local charity and we are looking for volunteer befrienders to support our Prevention Matters clients in Buckinghamshire.
Prevention Matters help adults regain confidence, maintain independence and help them get out and about. The Community Support Workers support clients by finding help, signposting to other services, connect with others in the local community and provide encouragement to get involved in social events.
You can make a difference to people’s lives as a Prevention Matters volunteer by:
- Increase or maintain social links such as attend local events, transport to coffee mornings
· Accompany clients on GP or hospital appointments
· Teach clients new digital skills such as email, Skype or how to search the web.
· Practical support in the garden or a spot of DIY in their home
· Assistance with hoarding disorder
· Support to a carer who is feeling isolated
Volunteers will have their traveling and out of pocket expenses covered. Opportunity to complete NVC National Volunteering Certificate and other in-house training.

Project Overview:
The Z House is an overnight accommodation for young people (18-25) at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The project aims to provide stable overnight accommodation for young people as they work towards a move-on goal. The project will work with the young people staying there to help them build skills necessary for maintaining independence beyond the project.
Specifics of the role
Hours: 20.00 - 08.00
Responsible to: Z House Project Coordinators

Role description:
This role is key in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment overnight at the Z House. Overnight duties involve interacting with the young people in the communal space if they want to, doing any necessary house duties, and responding to any emergencies should they occur (guidance will be given and you will never be left alone to deal with incidents!). It also includes providing a hand-over to the staff at the end of the shift. You will form part of a pair of volunteers, and there will always be a Caring it Bristol staff member on-call. A typical shift runs: · Arrive at the house at 20.00
· Letting in any guests who arrive late (before the 22.00 curfew)
· Checking in with the guests
· Conducting any house duties
· The shift is a sleep-in shift - You are allowed to sleep in the volunteer area during this shift, though remaining available to respond to incidents and emergencies should they occur
· Record any incidents or safeguarding concerns and include this in your handover – you will be trained in the procedure of what to do if this occurs
· Create a comprehensive handover for next the set of volunteers on shift and for the Z House project coordinators.
