Youth Helpers work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units, by supporting our Youth Leaders to deliver a sessions across our range of programmes. In this role, you'll support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Helpers also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

Alexandra Rose Charity (ARC) is seeking to appoint a Treasurer to join the Board and support the organisation in achieving its goals. The Treasurer will partner with the CEO and Head of Finance and Business Services and chair the Finance Subcommittee, ensuring that the organisation complies with its purpose, charity and company law, and pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.
- Oversee ARC’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Review and approve ARC’s financial statements.
- Support with the year-end accounts and audit.
- Convey information from the financial reports to the Board, making complex information understandable, accessible and actionable.
- Support and provide advice on ARC’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
- Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
- Provide support and challenge to the Chair.
- Provide support and challenge to ARC’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
- Stay informed of changes in ARC’s operating environment.
- Monitor emerging best practices in charity finance and lead ARC in adopting progressive and relevant financial management approaches in a constantly evolving landscape.
- Contribute to regular reviews of ARC’s own governance. Attend board meetings and be adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
- Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect ARC’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and any third-party interests.
- Contribute to the broader promotion of ARC’s objectives, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrate a good understanding of sound governance practice in the UK charity sector and apply it to our work and your role.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial governance in the non-profit and charity sector.
- Collaborate with Trustees and communicate financial issues clearly to non-specialists.
- Collaborate and build strong working relationships with the CEO and members of the Senior Management Team (SMT).
- Be a qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, with proven experience, preferably at senior level.
- A clear commitment to the charity’s mission and values, with a genuine passion for making a positive impact and change.
- Willingness and ability to understand and accept responsibilities and liabilities as a trustee and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgment and work effectively as a board member.

- Helping visitors to discover more, answering questions and making suggestions so they can enjoy their day, their way.
- Being an ambassador for the whole property and the National Trust. Helping visitors understand the full scope of the offer at Ickworth beyond the house.
- Learning more about Ickworth, so you can share your knowledge and stories of the family and their collections with visitors.
- Responding to the changing needs of Ickworth – supporting ongoing interpretation strategies in the House.
- Supporting with health and safety and evacuation procedures if required.

- Public health
We are seeking a Trustee with strong clinical or public health expertise, ideally a senior NHS or private healthcare leader, perhaps a medic, head of social work or an expert in public health education. You will bring a deep understanding of the health and social care landscape, the challenges facing our system and the opportunities to normalise conversations about death and improve access, equity and outcomes for patients and families.
Your insight will help us strengthen our focus on population health, health inequalities and how hospice care integrates within the wider system of care. This expertise will be central to ensuring our care is not only clinically excellent but also socially responsive, supporting our commitment to quality assurance and the continuous improvement of our services.
- Communities
We are looking for a well-connected, outreach-focused leader with a strong understanding of community engagement, inclusion and partnership building. You might come from a local authority, charity, health, education or faith background; what matters most is your ability to forge relationships, influence across diverse networks and champion the Hospice’s cause. Your insight will help us deepen our reach and relationships across the varied communities we serve, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, can access the care and support they need. You will bring strategic perspective, empathy and authenticity, helping us to keep inclusion, equity and belonging at the heart of everything we do.
- Digital fundraising / Marketing and engagement
We are seeking a digitally minded Trustee who understands how technology and innovation can transform engagement and fundraising. You may have experience in digital marketing, e-commerce, brand engagement or online community building. Your expertise will help us explore new and creative ways to connect with supporters, enhance our brand presence and grow sustainable income. You’ll bring strategic thinking and a passion for using digital tools to strengthen communication, relationships and storytelling, helping us reach and inspire people who want to make a difference.
Alongside your specialist expertise, you will be a strategic thinker, motivated by social purpose and community impact and committed to upholding the Hospice’s values: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our busy Operations Team to support data processing and income recording for Young Lives vs Cancer. As an Operations Volunteer, you will provide valuable administrative support, helping us with both regular tasks and specific projects. About CARAS casework:
CARAS works with adults and young people of a refugee and asylum seeker background to find solutions to their problems. There are two separate sub-teams within the Casework team; young people and adults. We support adults to navigate the asylum system, understand their options, access benefits, connect with services and realise their goals. We are a non-specialist casework and advocacy service, so we work in close partnership with other local organisations to whom we refer people with more complex issues.
Using the empowerment model, our casework service embodies CARAS’ values of ‘with not for’, always striving to ensure people are armed with the information and resources they need to make decisions and take action for themselves.
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for 2 volunteers to join our Adult Casework team.
The purpose of the Adult Casework volunteer role is to support adults with a refugee or asylum seeking background to understand their rights, access information and services, and ultimately, take control of their own lives. You will work with individuals to address problems they may face relating to, among other issues, asylum support, accessing healthcare and education, access to legal advice and finding activities and opportunities.
You will start from an understanding that individuals are always best placed to solve their own problems, and often need nothing more than to talk out a problem and find the solution themselves. When helpful, you will provide information to clarify and support to take action.
The Adult Casework team hold a support session at our office in Tooting on Thursday afternoons from 2-5.30pm. Volunteer caseworkers have 1:1 appointments, either in person or by phone, with CARAS members. These can be related to a range of topics. Currently our biggest areas of work are around housing for people seeking asylum, access to college, nursery/school places for children, referrals to mental health providers, searches and signposting to activities, finding solicitors and supporting people to apply for bus passes and ID cards. Volunteers also support with administrative tasks such as updating our databases, collating resources and creating information guides.
Adult Casework Volunteer Tasks and Responsibilities:

Working in an empowering way with individuals and promoting their independence through goal-setting.

Supporting people to develop their knowledge of rights and entitlements.

Assisting with filling out forms

Signposting and referring onto other services and organisations.

Gathering information from experts and disseminating information to people in an accessible manner.

Engaging in collaborative internet and phone research on services, organisations and grants.

Flagging safeguarding concerns and other issues where further support is required.

Keeping accurate casenotes

Supporting to maintain our signposting database

Researching and collating resources

Working collaboratively as a team and assisting to shape the Adult Casework project.

Requirements:
Essential

Experience of doing 1:1 advice work/casework.

Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English.

Confidence in using IT (Microsft office, outlook, zoom, Google search, online forms)

To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds;

Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Oromo, Pashto, Russian, Spanish, Somali, Tigrinya, Urdu or Vietnamese.

What are we looking for?
Key Skills & Experience
Preferably with 2 or more years’ experience of communications roles with excellent writing and editorial skills, good attention to details, and familiar with managing messages in the media.
·Experience of writing for publications and the web
·Great communication skills and an engaging style of writing
·Content editing and attention to detail
·An interest in environmental issues and enthusiasm for our aims
· Some experience of team management useful, but able to work independently and as part of a team

Hours: 7-14 hours per week

4. Develop consistent branding and tone across all media.
5. Collaborate closely with other team members on communications, content scheduling and any reasonable tasks.
6. Attend weekly team meetings (online or in person).
7. Travel to filming locations, community events, or fitness sessions where required.
8. Ensure all digital content complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 (UK GDPR) and that consent is obtained for participant images and stories.
