St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth provides specialist palliative care to people with life threatening illnesses and support to their families and carers, in partnership with others. The care is not just medical and nursing but incorporates emotional, social and spiritual support as well.
We wish to recruit a new member to join our governing body, the Board of Trustees. The Treasurer is a key position, advising the board on the financial resources of the organisation in order to meet its present and future needs. The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
You will have strategic but sensitive leadership and authority, with the ability to innovate, to challenge assumptions and to contribute your views and experience. The Treasurer will also have skills in financial management, together with an appropriate finance qualification and the ability to scrutinise and probe financial reports, statements and balance sheet information.
The successful candidate is likely to have experience of contributing to board or committee meetings and able to make a commitment to St Luke’s and devote the necessary time. The full board meets six times a year, usually in the evening between 6.00pm -9.00pm.
The Treasurer will also chair the hospice’s Finance and Audit committee, who usually meet every quarter for approximately 2 hours.
We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and we welcome applications from all sectors of the community.
