Job description

We're Stay Brave. We won't give up until all survivors have the help they need and the respect they deserve.

It's our mission to erase the barriers survivors of rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse, can face when asking for help. We do this by campaigning for better services, crafting policy and working with decision makers to improve access for every survivor.

Are you in energetic leader that wants to make an impact on the lives of those affected by rape and abuse? We want to hear from you!

We are seeking a Chair with experience in a senior strategic leadership role who can provide effective leadership to the Board ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities and accountabilities for good governance of the Charity. A successful candidate will be able to create additional value for the Charity through soliciting additional resources in the areas of policy and influence, awareness-raising, press and media, and/or income generation.

Background

We’re a young charity wanting to take a modern approach to abuse and exploitation prevention. Stay Brave focuses on campaigning and working with legislatures and services to develop better policies for all survivors to ensure that they have access to the services they need. We work to make sure that any survivor of abuse, regardless of gender or orientation, gets the help they need and respect they deserve.

You’ll be joining Stay Brave at an exciting time as we develop and implement an ambitious 5-year growth strategy and extending our reach to better serve our moral ownership – those affected by abuse and exploitation.

This is a start-up, entrepreneurial setting and the core team will be you and a board of 8 volunteers.

Summary

Our dedicated Board holds ultimate accountability for everything we do. Our Trustees determine our mission and vision, engage in strategic planning, formulate policies, ensure adequate financial resources and oversee Stay Brave's charitable activities. Our Chair ensures that Trustees fulfil their responsibilities and accountabilities for good governance, and optimises the relationship between Trustees, our creative and committed team of enthusiastic volunteers. They will support and work in partnership with our brilliant Chief Exec, Alexander Morgan, helping him achieve our mission of empowering survivors to fulfil their potential and secure the support they need, while working towards a greater understanding of the barriers survivors can face when asking for help.

About you!

You are inspired to help us to deliver our vision to improve services for survivors of abuse and change people’s lives. Our vision is so important that we need the very best people to help us achieve it – our team is proud to work for Stay Brave. We are ambitious for Stay Brave and for ourselves. We are approachable - providing advice to everyone and explaining our work. We are dedicated and committed to achieving the most for our donors and our beneficiaries. And we are involved – constantly looking for new ways to engage and improve. We love our work and we will be looking for this in you too.

Commitment
