We’re looking for at least 3 Voluntary Group Committee Members, all over the age of 18 years old , who will be pivotal in setting up a new voluntary stroke group in the area.
Stroke Association Voluntary Groups provide long-term social and peer support to people affected by stroke. They organise events and meet together to reduce social isolation and rebuild the confidence of members. Committee members organise and ensure the smooth running of the groups and lead the team of volunteers.
Voluntary group committee members take part in the organising and running of a group but without holding a specific group role like Chairperson, Secretary or Treasurer. They are likely to be involved in some of these kinds of tasks:
- Planning activities for the group to undertake, inviting speakers and booking outings.
- Taking part in meetings, including the annual review meeting, to discuss the management of the group.
- Keeping and maintaining membership records, including emergency contact details, and keeping in touch with members through newsletters, phone or email.
- Recruiting and supporting volunteers in the group and working with the local Stroke Association staff to ensure they are supported.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.
