Voluntary with accommodation, work travel and insurance provided
Job description

Our goal at Temwa is to harness the power of bringing communities together. We partner with communities in Malawi, empowering local people to end poverty and transform their own futures. And we inspire local communities in the UK to help bring about this change.

Temwa is now looking for a volunteer Communications and Programmes Coordinator to join our team at our Malawi office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening Temwa’s internal and external communications as well as programme delivery to bring about sustainable change in our partner communities.

As a Communications and Programmes Coordinator, you will play a key role in developing Temwa’s communications in line with Temwa Malawi’s Communications Strategy and Plan, producing regular communication materials but also building local capacity. As a member of the Programmes Team, you will be involved in day-to-day programme planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting, including regular travel to remote communities. You will also work closely with the Malawi and UK teams to help develop new funding proposals. For more information on the tasks, see the attached job description; the exact tasks and levels of responsibility can be adapted based on the strenghts of the chosen candidate and their period of availability.

The position is a full-time volunteer role. Temwa will cover the cost of travel insurance, provide self-catering accommodation and arrange your work travel (incl. food) in Malawi. You will be expected to cover your flights and day-to-day living expenses, but the cost of living in Malawi is relatively low. These costs can be discussed should you be successfully shortlisted for an interview.

You will report directly to the Programme Manager in Malawi, although you will also work closely with and be supported by the UK Programme Quality Advisor and UK Deputy Fundraising Manager. You will work at our Bristol office for 3-4 weeks before travelling to Malawi for induction into UK proposal development, programme systems and reporting as well as communications.
