Supporter Services Volunteer Fairtrade Fortnight Campaign

Posted by The Fairtrade Foundation

Location Greater London

Job Description

Are you ready to help change the world?! To be part of a dynamic volunteer team during our biggest campaign of the year? Then read on…

The Fairtrade Foundation is a rapidly growing organisation which licenses the consumer label the FAIRTRADE Mark in the UK to products that meet international standards of Fairtrade. Our unique independent guarantee is helping producers in the Global South and consumers in the North to challenge conventional trading systems that condemn millions to poverty and hardship.

The Foundation would not be as effective in its aims without the help of our dedicated team of office volunteers. The same is true of our thousands of grass roots supporters and campaigners across the UK, who regularly put on events, lobby their local food outlets and MP’s, or just tell their friends about Fairtrade. Their activity is particularly focussed on our main annual campaign, Fairtrade Fortnight which runs from 27 February - 12 March 2017. The aim of the Supporter Services team is to assist our supporters in the 2 months before Fairtrade Fortnight by responding to their queries about any aspect of Fairtrade Fortnight, processing materials orders for their events, and signing them up for newsletters or e-bulletins.  Contact us now if you’re interested in helping us make Fairtrade bigger and better!

Commitment:  Ideally we would like to have a volunteer for two to three days per week at least to the end of Fairtrade Fortnight, 12 March 2017.

This arrangement is not intended to be legally binding or to create a contract.

Tasks include:

  • First line responsibility for dealing with all internal and external enquiries to the Supporter Services team
  • Managing the main email inbox for the Fairtrade Foundation, ensuring emails are responded to promptly and standard replies kept up-to-date
  • Administering the Foundation’s internal CRM/database and eCommerce site
  • Stock management of promotional resources
  • Various other administrative and ad hoc tasks to assist the Supporter Campaigns team, such as keeping a record of supporter email results using dedicated reporting tools.

  • Good all-round IT skills including Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, Excel and Outlook )
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and communicate well with others
  • Ability to project a confident, calm working manner at all times
