Job description

Why do we need you?

This year F&BF will be bringing back some of our fantastic in person events to create spaces where people can meet others different from themselves and engage in discussion about belief, identity, and action. We need a friendly team of volunteers to support the staff team in event delivery.

The three flagship events we are currently seeking volunteers for are:

  • London Faith & Belief Community Awards – November 2021
  • Interfaith Summit – February 2022
  • London Interfaith Fun Run – Summer 2022

What will you be doing?

You will be joining a team of enthusiastic volunteers who are invited to support all aspects of the event. Roles and responsibilities would include:

• Setting up event spaces

• Welcoming guests

• Encouraging conversations between participants

• Serving refreshments

• Cheering runners at the Interfaith Fun Run

• Participating in briefing and de-briefing sessions to help evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the event.

Above all you will be a supportive influence for guests attending our events. Participants may not have had many experiences of interfaith events, so having a friendly and encouraging manner is essential.

This is a real opportunity to give back to your community, develop your existing skills or learn new skills, and network with other volunteers in our network.

When are you needed?

We are looking for one off volunteers to support a variety of events. We ask for a minimum of 4 hours volunteering for each event and that you volunteer at least once a year.

• Ability to interact with a range of stakeholders.

• Work effectively within a team.

• An interest in and passion for interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

What impact will you have?

By volunteering at our events, you will help create positive spaces for people to meet others different from themselves and engage in impotant discussions around faith, belief, and identity.

Many of our events are about celebrating faith and belief-based communities and so by giving your time you will be helping recognise this important work. We hope that volunteering with us will have an impact on you!

By volunteering at our events, you will:

• Join a movement of people passionate about bringing people together from different backgrounds

• Build experience in event delivery, communicating with diverse stakeholders.

• Be invited to join a Facebook group of 180+ Faith & Belief Forum volunteers past and present, this network of people passionate about interfaith share interesting events and opportunities.

• Be invited to join F&BF networking and celebration events.

Will training be provided?

Yes! You will receive training from F&BF staff member ahead of your volunteering.
