Malawi is the most impoverished country in the world. We at The Mlambe Project believe that the best means of aiding the Malawian people in their struggle against poverty is through the provision of sustainable livelihoods and a proper education.
We aim to achieve this via our extensive school building programme in Southern Malawi, which is focusing on giving 25,000 children a classroom place by 2025.
The Mlambe Project was started in 2012 by a group of University of Manchester students and has grown rapidly since this point. Over the next year we are expanding as an organisation and hope to take on more people with fresh and innovative ideas to add our existing successes.
The growth of our organisation and so our charitable activity is inextricably linked to funding streams. Our programmes of work thus far simply would not have been possible without receiving the necessary funding. We have therefore devised this role in order to manage the charity’s fundraising in keeping with the charity’s growth, which works closely alongside our chief executive to support the charity's fundraising efforts.
Working closely alongside the CEO, develop new funding streams for the charity which include
Supporting and devising new fundraising events
Identifying challenge events and managing our social media stream to recruit participants.
Support with the writing of grant applications to trusts and foundations
Research and identify new potential funding streams
Develop individual giving on behalf of the charity.
Training can be provided particularly for a volunteer candidate who would like to stay with us for longer than a year, in the form of intensive support and coaching from our award winning charity CEO.
Able to commit 1-2 days per week.
Personable and a good communicator
Knowledge of the charity’s activity to date
Good writing ability and the ability to assimilate knowledge quickly.
Experience working in the charity sector
Experience of fundraising
Active interest in the developing world and a thirst to create change
