About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the South East Cheshire Group covering Crewe, Nantwich and surrounding areas. As an Activities Organiser, you will be to bringing together our MS community through engaging and accessible activities.
The SE Cheshire group have an active team of 10 existing volunteers working together to provide a regular newsletter, support line, coffee mornings and information events. We also do various fundraising activities to raise the money to support our own services. As an Activities Organiser, you will be helping the team to organise their programme of events and activities as required.
You’ll be volunteering at home and out and about in your local community and will need to attend the Coordinating Team planning meeting in Crewe on a Monday evening once a month. We are very flexible about the hours and days you volunteer because we understand that you have other commitments, but the anticipated time for this role is expected to be approximately 8 hours per month.
You will receive a welcome pack and volunteer induction, as well as regular support from a local member of staff. You’ll also have opportunities to attend volunteer forums to meet with other volunteers, share learning and experiences and receive national updates. Out of pocket expenses can be claimed in line with our expenses policy.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You will know of local community organisations and be able to build relationships with them.
A background of knowing about Multiple Sclerosis would be an advantage for this role, but is not essential. You will need to be based in or near the areas of Crewe, Nantwich and surrounding area to carry out this role
