About this opportunity
Are you comfortable communicating with a range of people in an informal setting? Are you keen to help out in your local community? If so, this could be the role for you.
We are looking to recruit an Activities Volunteer for the Redcar and District Group. As an Activities Volunteer, you will be helping out at events and activities as required.
Our group is run by a small team of volunteers who meet monthly to coordinate services and activities to support people in the local area affected by multiple sclerosis. We provide information and signposting, individual support, an exercise group and various social opportunities for people affected by multiple sclerosis.
As our Activities Volunteer, you would use your can do attitude to enable people with MS to participate in local group activities by providing practical support on the day. This could be assisting with setting up activities, registering attendees, or making and serving refreshments.
This role is very flexible and allows you to give as little or as much time as you can, whilst doing something incredibly worthwhile in your local area. We currently meet every Monday and Wednesday afternoon for social and physical activities. We would love it if you could attend some of these but are flexible with your availability. In 2018 we are reviewing our services and support and are hoping to develop new and exciting activities to increase the range of support on offer.
We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally.
You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.
You will be a real people’s person and able to talk to a range of people from different backgrounds. You’ll enjoy being part of a team, helping MS Society Redcar deliver engaging and accessible activities. You will also be sensitive to people’s requirements and be able to keep people’s personal details and information confidential.
You must live in or near the Redcar area to carry out this role.
The MS Society is committed to promoting diversity. We can only offer roles to over 18s.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
