Using their interpersonal and organisational skills, our Administration Volunteers are the linchpin for all local group activity. They act as the first point of contact for the group and play an important role in keeping the group’s data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.
We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us.
About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit an Administration Volunteer for the Inverurie and district Group. As an Administration Volunteer you will be organising the admin of a group and ensuring group volunteers are aware of current agreements and activities.
We are a friendly and well-established group of volunteers. We currently meet once a month at the Acorn Centre to plan social and other opportunities for people affected by MS in the local area and would offer a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us.
We are keen to expand our reach and develop our Support Volunteer Programme. As an Administration Volunteer your role will include having access to the group’s email account and portal, keeping records and data up to date and taking notes at meetings as well as ensuring group volunteers are aware of current agreements and activities.
You would be volunteering with a team of volunteers who coordinate the running of the group and would be required to take minutes of meetings and respond to inquiries via the group’s email address. You'll have access to a group handbook. You'll also have a welcome and induction checklist which lists what resources are available to support you in your role as well as on-going support from your Group Coordinator and local staff member.
We estimate this role needs around from 1 -2 hours a week but are flexible to suit your availability. You would also need to attend the team's monthly meeting when possible. There are volunteer forums and training courses which you may wish to attend held usually twice a year. Out of pocket expenses can be claimed in line with our expenses policy.
We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be a keen organiser of admin and record keeping and willing to share information with others.
You will need to be comfortable using the internet and email and experienced in taking notes at meetings, or willing to learn. You will be able to keep records up to date and safe and comply with data legislation. You'd be a valuable resource for our friendly team.
You must live in or near the Inverurie area to carry out this role
