Redcar, Redcar and Cleveland
Job description

Making sure our volunteers and members are kept up-to-date with both local and national news is vital. Our communication volunteers use social media and newsletters to make sure everyone from our MS community is informed about any MS Society updates as well as upcoming activities or events.

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer to relaunch our Redcar Districts Group , offering services, support and information to people affected by multiple Sclerosis in the Redcar area. As a Communications Volunteer you will make sure the local MS community is aware of our updates and upcoming activities or events at the group.

You will help us get the word out about what we do. This might take the form of a regular newsletter, an updated group leaflet to share with MS professionals and other contacts or a focus on PR and online communications. The role is really flexible, with plenty of opportunity to develop it in the direction you want.

As a minimum, the re-launched MS Society Redcar Group Coordinating Team will need to meet to review services and support, group finances and communications a minimum of four times throughout the year. Other than that, this role is really flexible and can be mainly done from home.

We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

You will be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English. You will have experience of using social media. Experience in newsletter writing would also be a benefit but is not essential, as we have in-house templates to help you create and publish a newsletter.

You need to live in or near the Redcar area to carry out this role.
