Making sure our volunteers and members are kept up-to-date with both local and national news is vital. Our communication volunteers use social media and newsletters to make sure everyone from our MS community is informed about any MS Society updates as well as upcoming activities or events.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Dumbarton and District Group. As a Communications Volunteer you will make sure the local MS community is aware of our updates and upcoming activities or events at the group.
We are a well-established group with a good volunteer team who providing exercise, support and social opportunities to people affected by MS in the local area. We also provide grants to help pay for items that will have a significant positive impact the lives of those affected by MS.
As a Communications Volunteer you will have a varied role that could include anything from managing and maintaining website and social media pages as well as managing any PR and press articles in your local area. You could also be writing and editing articles as well as supporting others to contribute copy for newsletters and other promotional materials. Mainly you will make sure your MS community is aware of any MS Society updates and upcoming activities or events and circulate information as well as reaching new audiences.
We estimate that this role needs around 1-2 hours a week but we are flexible to fit in with your availability. It would be great if you could also attend some of our meetings to keep in the know of what is going on. There are volunteer forums and training courses which you may wish to attend, held usually twice a year.
You will receive a welcome pack and volunteer induction, as well as regular support from our Group Coordinator and volunteer team. We pay all reasonable out of pocket expenses that you may incur whilst volunteering with us.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You will be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
