About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our Tameside & Glossop Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.
You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner. If you would like to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by MS and can keep an eye on finances for a small team of volunteers then you're the person we need!
The MS Society Tameside & Glossop Group is looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic Finance Volunteer to the team. The role is varied but will typically involve making sure funds raised are banked, paying bills, keeping track of finances with our online system and producing reports. We are a small and friendly team of volunteers who meet regularly to plan and deliver a variety of events, activities and services with and for people affected by multiple sclerosis across the area we cover.
We currently provide regular socials, trips, a grants programme, information and signposting and much more. We also fundraise throughout the year to ensure we are able to provide these activities. We're very passionate about making sure that people affected by MS across the area have access to all of the above and we are really keen to welcome you on board with the team to help us do even more. So if you'd like to make a big difference, please get in touch with us today!
You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.
You will be volunteering at home and will be able to meet up with our volunteer Coordinating Team every other month in Dukinfield. We are very flexible about the hours and days you volunteer because we understand that you have other commitments, but the anticipated time for this role is expected to be approximately 6-12 hours per month.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience with a large charity, develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be comfortable with figures, preferably with an accounting or business background.
You will receive a welcome pack and volunteer induction, as well as regular support from a local member of staff. You’ll also have opportunities to attend volunteer forums to meet with other volunteers, share learning and experiences and receive national updates. Out of pocket expenses can be claimed in line with our expenses policy.
A genuine interest in Multiple Sclerosis would be a great advantage for this role. You’ll be comfortable using the internet and email, be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English and understand the importance of keeping people’s personal data safe. You’ll need to be based in or near Tameside or Glossop to carry out this role.
The MS Society is committed to promoting diversity. We can only offer roles to over 18s.
