About this opportunity
Would you like to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by MS? Could you motivate and coordinate a small team of volunteers? If so, then you're the person we need!

The MS Society Solihull Group is looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic Group Coordinator to the team. The role is varied but will typically involve acting as an ambassador for the group, leading the group’s activities and volunteer team and recruiting and supporting the group volunteers.

We are a small and friendly team of 8 volunteers who meet regularly to plan and deliver a variety of events, activities and services with and for people affected by multiple sclerosis across the area we cover. We currently provide regular socials, a grants programme, information and signposting, a quarterly newsletter, an active Facebook page, complementary therapies and much more. We also fundraise throughout the year to ensure we are able to provide these activities.

We're very passionate about making sure that people affected by MS across the area have access to all of the above and we are really keen to welcome you on board with the team to help us do even more. So if you'd like to make a big difference, please get in touch with us today!

You will be volunteering at home and out and about in your local community and will need to chair the monthly Coordinating Team meeting. We are very flexible about the hours and days you volunteer because we understand that you have other commitments, but the anticipated time for this role is expected to be approximately 6-12 hours per month.

You will receive a welcome pack and volunteer induction, as well as regular support from a local member of staff. You’ll also have opportunities to attend volunteer forums to meet with other volunteers, share learning and experiences and receive national updates. Out of pocket expenses can be claimed in line with our expenses policy.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to coordinate and support a team of volunteers.

A genuine interest in Multiple Sclerosis would be a great advantage for this role, as would previous experience of chairing meetings.

You’ll need to be based in or near the areas of Solihull to carry out this role.
