About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Health & Safety Volunteer for the Ayrshire and Arran Group. As a Health & Safety Volunteer, you will ensure group activities, events and premises are safe and inclusive for everyone.
We are run by a small and friendly team of volunteers who fundraise and deliver a range of activities and services to support people with multiple sclerosis locally and we really need someone to help ensure all our activities are safe and accessible.
The Health and Safety Volunteer role is an important part of the team to ensure that all activities are covered by our health and safety policies, guidance and online risk assessments. You'll receive a welcome, induction and training relevant to the role, on using our bespoke online health and safety system, ongoing support from our friendly volunteer team and local staff member.
This key role will ensure that current activities and events (and new ones to be developed) will continue to run safely. You will be supported by the local Group Coordinator Volunteer to undertake this, as well as receiving support from members of staff.
We estimate the role will require approximately 1 - 2 hours a week with one monthly meeting but we are flexible to suit your availability. The role is largely home based but you will be required to attend venues as part of the role and Ideally, you will occasionally be able to attend a Group Coordinating Team meeting on attend meetings when you can. You'll receive a welcome, induction and training relevant to the role, ongoing support from our friendly volunteer team and local staff member.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.
You’ll be able to coordinate and support a team of volunteers. You will need to be well organised with good attention to detail and with a willingness to use our existing system to keep people safe.
Please note that you must live or near the Ayrshire and Annan area to carry out this role.
