The SEED Project is a small charity facilitating sustainable community development and resilience in Zimbabwe. Trustees are sought to help drive forward our exciting new strategy which will take our work to the next level.
As a trustee of a very small charity, with 2 full-time employees in Zimbabwe, 1 part-time employee in the UK and a handful of volunteers, you will have plenty of opportunities to get stuck into various aspects of SEED’s work. This could range from drafting policies to hosting fundraising events, and from helping to recruit senior employees to contributing new ideas. We take a fairly informal, pragmatic approach to our roles as trustees, within the legal and regulatory framework. As well as the important decision-making and wrestling with the issues of the day, our meetings usually involve laughter and cake!
Purpose of the role
This voluntary role will carry the usual responsibilities of a trustee as defined by the Charity Commission for England and Wales; we encourage all applicants to read the Charity Commission’s guidance CC3 prior to making application.
In addition to the traditional governance role, SEED’s trustees will get involved in a more hands-on way, according to their particular abilities. We are looking for 2-4 new trustees who could each offer a few hours a week, or an average of a day or two per month. In addition to quarterly board meetings, other contact – usually electronic or by telephone – will be necessary. There may be the opportunity for occasional travel to Zimbabwe.
You can view our annual accounts on the Charity Commission’s Register of Charities, using our registered charity number: 1115357.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the vacancies are filled. Shortlisted applications will be invited to an informal discussion with one or two trustees, and then to attend a meeting as an observer. If you, and we, think that you are right for the role, we will formalise your appointment, subject to references and checks, and begin your induction.
