About The SEED Project
SEED is a grassroots charity working in partnership with communities in Zimbabwe (where unemployment is at 90%) to create lasting, sustainable change. Our focus is empowerment rather than aid, and our aim is for long-term sustainability thus reducing dependency on national and/or international donors.
About the opportunity
We are looking for someone to join our small, friendly team as a communications volunteer keeping the public informed of our fundraising efforts in the UK, and the real successes those funds are being turned into by our development workers Robert and Nyasha out in Zimbabwe. You will be part of a small group of remote volunteers. The role requires you to write copy from information provided from Zimbawe and perform various ad-hoc research tasks. If you are looking for a flexible, high impact volunteering role where your skills will be valued then please come and join us!
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who will be regular and dependable with a flair for writing zesty copy and engaging an audience, and who has an empathy for our supporter base. A creative all-rounder able to come up with ideas from research to generate supporter comms and work remotely with other team members.
You must have:
- The ability to tell a story.
- Proven copywriting and editing skills.
- Brilliant research skills.
- Excellent English.
- A basic understanding of charity campaigns and/or marketing.
- An understanding or experience of international development; especially in Southern Africa, would be an advantage.
- Your own computer and good access to the internet.
Approximately 3 hours week.
Please send a letter of motivation, and outline your skills that are relevant to this post to Kevin Cusack.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
