Chair of the Board of Trustees

Job Reference : TAP/Ch2017

Job Description

We are a new and ambitious charity, determined to transform perceptions of autism, and to make it possible for those with the condition to live to their true and impressive potential.  Our initial focus is on early intervention and an awareness campaign to alert people to its importance.  This will lead to our opening a specialised early intervention clinic in 2019 or 2020, and to our establishing a comprehensive online portal to offer guidance, support and community to anyone looking after an autistic child.  For more about us - including a TED talk on our approach given by our CEO a few months ago - please visit our profile by clicking on our name in the title section of this ad,

A board of highly capable Trustees with relevant expertise, charity experience and comprehensive networks, along with natural passion and commitment, led by a confident and committed Chair, could make a huge difference to how successful we are.

First and foremost, we are seeking someone who believes in the huge potential within each autistic child and deeply resonates with our purpose and our values (see our profile for more details, and there is a list of our values in the attachment below).

You will feel inspired and motivated to bring into your life a passion and inner commitment to helping autistic children realise their full potential. Your communication style will be positive, open, authentic and adaptive, and you will feel comfortable acting as a spokesperson for the charity. The role will be predominantly home based. However, the post holder will be expected to attend periodic Board meetings and maintain regular communication with the CEO which may include attending additional meetings, as and when required.

As we are at a very early stage and expecting a period of rapid growth, this role will be a little more hands on than may be expected in an established charity, and will involve guiding us through the setup of appropriate governance and processes, and overseeing the strategic direction of the charity (along with the CEO).

As we are a strongly values-driven organisation, we are also seeking someone who deeply resonates with our purpose and our values, which are outlined in our profile.  The full list of our values can be found in the attachment below.

More details available on request.  Please also find attached a simple role description, and the draft organisational structure that we are currently working towards putting in place.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
