About Dingley's Promise
We are a local Berkshire charity, first established in 1984 as Dingley Family and Play Therapy Group, since when we have steadily grown and reviewed our support for early-years children and their families. In 2011 we were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service and in 2016, adopted the Dingley's Promise name. We are poised to increase the geographical scope of our operation as well as continue the highly-rated work we do to support those who need us most.
In 2018-19, we spent £672k achieving our aims (15% increase), and have shown consistent growth over the past several years, although, like many charities, we often have a small deficit to manage.

What do we do and where do we do it?
Dingley's Promise wants children with special educational needs and disabilities to thrive. We deliver life-changing support to under-5s with additional needs and disabilities and their families, by providing specialist sessions, family support and training. We ensure that our services integrate with other professional services to give the best start for every child and we provide advice and training to those other services where needed.
Dingley's Promise believes that our organisation needs to develop to achieve more of that. We currently operate from centres in Newbury, Reading and Wokingham, and are aiming to expand into Wiltshire and north Hampshire. Our recently-developed and accredited online training package on Early Years SEND Training for mainstream nurseries is gaining traction at a local and national level and will greatly increase our scope of impact.
Why are we looking for new Trustees?
We believe we're 'going places', with our local focus and our national impact and we now need to increase our board of trustees, with a new Treasurer, plus other trustees. Our existing board membership is stable but we believe more people will add to our skills and our ability to better provide for our beneficiaries across a wider area.
We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles. We are looking for a Treasurer to bring their financial expertise and experience which could be from a variety of backgrounds, including but not exclusively from the business world. We want to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the term.

How do I apply?
This appointment is being managed for us by involve Community Services, a charity-support organisation.
You will need to be eligible to be a charity trustee & company Director, which we will explain. Trustee appointments are subject to satisfactory references and, upon appointment, a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and the undertaking of a Level 1 Safeguarding course, usually online and within 3 months of appointment. Registration with Ofsted will also be required upon appointment.
