Boston Community Transport are a registered charity seeking an experienced Fundraiser to work within the Borough of Boston.
Their main objective is to raise vital funds through various relationships, activities and opportunities for this essential community transport service.
This role plays an important part in ensuring financially Boston Community Transport is a sustainable charitable operation. You could be just the person we need to help us achieve our ambitions and plans for development.
It's certainly an exciting time to join us, especially as we have just launched our fundraising strategy.
Corporate Funding - to make appointments and engage with local businesses to encourage them to organise their own fundraising events, provide sponsorship, encourage payroll giving, and adopt us as their charity of the year as part of their corporate social responsibility programme.
Community Funding - to encourage , motivate and develop local people, supporters and volunteers to be involved with organising their own community fundraising activities and events, and maximise the funds they raise, ie. coffee mornings, jumble sales, raffles, cake sales and bring-and-buy sales.
Local Groups Fundraising - to meet with local organisations, associations, clubs and societies including Lions, Rotary, Women's Institutes and professional groups to encourage them to organise fundraising events or provide a financial donation.
Local Retailers - to work with us and be involved with our organised fundraising schemes such as collection tins, raffles and events - through retail establishments such as pubs, restaurants, cafes, chip shops, local shops, banks, building societies and post offices etc.
Fundraising Events - to organise our own fundraising events to generate income on an ongoing basis, working with others, ie. partners and stakeholders.
Additional Funding - identify, maintain and develop relationships with current and potential key supporters, funders, donors, sponsors, partners and stakeholders, and proactively generate income with those who can donate high value contributions.
Maintain and keep up to date a fundraising database with full details of contributors, donors, sponsors etc.
Attend Trustees' Board Meetings to present a report on fundraising progress.
Attend business networking events.
Give talks to groups, organisations and societies encouraging them to engage with our fundraising events.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Previous fundraising, sales, cold-calling and appointment-making experience.
Able to prepare convincing presentations of our fundraising ideas and opportunities to engage with and generate interest with all companies, organisations, retailers, etc.
Able to liaise and present our charitable cause and funding case to Directors and Senior Management of businesses.
Professional networker and able to forge positive relationships.
Understanding of the voluntary and charity sector and the importance of fundraising to sustain and develop our charity.
Able to achieve fundraising income targets, monthly and annually.
Excellent communication skills. both written and verbal.
Good administrative, planning, organisation and self-motivational skills.
Proactive, passionate, results-driven and an achiever.
Negotiation skills and the ability to persuade others to commit to our charity.
Sound knowledge of database management, proven IT skills and computer literate with knowledge of MS Office.
Must play an effective part of a small team of individuals within the charity.
Able to carry out projects to conclusion.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to motivate others and work as part of a team.
Must be a car owner and have a mobile telephone.
The successful applicant will be compensated for their time and effort based on results.
All equipment, training and materials will be supplied to ensure the role is successful.
The successful applicant will be subject to enhanced DBS and reference checks.
