We urgently need Digital Support Volunteers to help out on our Fifty-Plus Digital project.
We run a lively and sociable Digital Drop-in for older people on Wednesday afternoons (1-4pm) at Mildmay Community Centre near Newington Green in Islington.
We regularly have 30-40 older people attending the drop-in and really need additional volunteers who can help provide one-to-one support with smartphones, tablets and laptops.
If you’re at ease in the digital world, confident using the internet and digital devices, and have great interpersonal skills as well as empathy and patience, please consider sharing your skills with older people who need help navigating the digital maze!
You can volunteer long or short-term, come every week or just whenever you can. We can reimburse travel expenses.

- Lead on the creation, planning and development of our community based services, providing safe and supportive spaces to the community, especially those facing loneliness and social isolation.
- Lead, train and inspire local teams and volunteers whos goal is to deliver impactful services that truly meet the needs of people within their communities.
- As services evolve, guide teams through change, provide strategic direction, and ensures services are aligned with SUNSHINE's mission.
- Contribute to strategy development and lead on operational planning for community-based services.
- Ensure that services are inclusive and reflect the diversity of the communities we serve..
- Manage the performance and impact of our services, ensuring that we are evidencing the work we are doing and the impact we are making to peoples lives.
- Write grants and funding bids and support income generation for the work we do at SUNSHINE.
- Get involved in supporting organisation wide activities to ensure our success.
- Other duties relevant to the role of Head of Community Services and Impact.

If so, join St Giles Trust as a Community Violence Volunteer Mentor working on our CIRV service, supporting young people, adults and families who have been or at high risk of being affected by violence offending and or exploitation.
About St Giles Trust and Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV)
An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.
The Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) is a pilot service running across Wolverhampton and Coventry which seeks to engage children, young people and adults at risk who are within the criminal justice system due to criminality and violence and provide them with effective interventions to reduce the risk of reoffending and violence.
CIRV project is run through the Violence Reduction Unit and is a collaboration between West Midlands Police and a variety of agencies, including St Giles Trust. The service is for children and young people aged 14 years and older that are at risk of, or are experiencing, group-based violence and exploitation. St Giles Trust mentors will engage and support these young people and when their risk of violence has reduced, the young person will work with a volunteer mentor before exiting the service.
About this key role
Our CIRV Volunteer Mentor will engage and support young people, adults, and families once they have been identified as being involved in a violence-related incident, being at risk of exploitation or gang-affiliated and build positive relationships with the clients and their families, plus work directly with them in order to promote positive change, build resilience, and prevent young people from experiencing significant harm.
As a mentor, you will be non-judgmental, reliable and respectful of the young person’s autonomy. You are not there to tell them what to do, your role is to explore options with them, support them to make good decisions and act as a transfer of trust between the young person and other agencies.

Job Description
You will work alongside our directors throughout 2024/5 to:

Design the onboarding and offboarding process for staff and volunteers.

Roll out and optimize the above.

Manage recruitment of team members, including being at interviews and making decisions on who to bring on board.

Build and manage the HR team, including staff and volunteer managers.

Create and implement dispute resolution processes and policies.

Develop and manage processes and policies to make working and volunteering with us a seamless, enjoyable and supportive experience for all.

Be a point of contact for staff and volunteers.
Note: This role has been designed for a year to support in building and managing our HR systems and process but we would love to have you longer if it works for us both.

Could you use your skills to support women in recovery by facilitating a workshop in our Haringey Women’s Group?
This role involves assisting the team of an established drugs and alcohol recovery service to support people who are in recovery in group settings. The aim of these groups is to build networks of support and build upon recovery and the skills and resilience to sustain it.
The Women’s Group runs every Friday from 10.00 – 11.30 at Haringey Recovery Service. This space is accessible only by women within the services or new to the service, no male clients can access the building during this time to allow for a safe space for vulnerable female clients. The aim is to create a safe space for women to openly discuss, learn and share information and experiences, to empower and inspire positive change.
A staff member will always be present in the group alongside the volunteer.
