Who Cares? Scotland Education and Engagement team are looking for a Virtual Education and Engagement volunteer to assist in the delivery of online sessions, discussing and reflecting on Corporate Parenting practice in relation to people with Care Experience. The role will involve providing technical support and supporting the delivery team where necessary. This is an exciting and newly developed role which gives practical experience within the Third Sector, providing training to Corporate Parents on care experience, and would allow for personal development for a suitable candidate.

This position is almost exclusively online, therefore, open to anyone with the ability to work remotely and possesses IT skills.

The UK Rep Pool is a collection of 18-25-year-olds from around the UK who are trained to represent the UK Scout Association at events in the UK and abroad. These events vary from the conferences, seminars and workshops mentioned on the website and may be from a single day to a whole week. The UK Rep Pool then ensure that any learning, knowledge and inspiration from these events is brought back to the relevant teams of volunteers at UK level as well as sections they may be involved in locally.

As a Rep Pool member, you will be expected to attend a training day once a year and bi-monthly calls. This will include updates from World Scouting, other events members have attended, and any lessons learnt from projects. Typically, members will also help support other UK national projects which their event experiences can relate to.

We are looking for trained Clinical Supervisors who have been practising for over 3 years to lead supervision sessions with our volunteer Mentors. We hold these bi-weekly in groups of 3-4 over lunchtime or evenings online.

What will you be doing?

All Been There Mentors who work with our Mentees have monthly group supervision. Usually there are four volunteers in a group. Supervision can take place in person or on zoom.

Commit to supervising a minimum of two groups per month (approx 5 hours in total).

Key Responsibilities:

• To safeguard the wellbeing of the Mentors and ensure that their needs are being addressed.
• To ensure the quality of Mentor support work with Mentees
• To ensure that Mentors are supported and developed, are participating in continued training and are not left to carry difficulties and problems alone.
• To provide regular opportunities for Mentors working with clients to reflect upon both the content and process of their work.

Voluntary Business Development Officer (part time)

ETS is a growing UK based Christian charity, which is looking to expand its discipleship and evangelism training throughout the UK and the English-speaking nations.

We are looking for a person of faith who can identify with our aims and has some experience with business development or sales. Although this is a voluntary position, we anticipate that this role will be salaried at some point in the future.

This role will be our first contact to many Pastors and Leaders in both the UK and to other English-speaking Nations. The role will involve reaching out to Churches to promote our discipleship and evangelism training. This will be by targeted emails, letters, and phone calls, which will be backed up and supported by our Social Media and Fundraising Officers.

ETS is based in Peterborough, and we expect any applicant to work from home/remote (hybrid) along with attending meetings over zoom. We will only interview applicants who are UK based. There may be occasional team meetings at Allia Business Centre, Peterborough, but traveling costs will be reimbursed, along with phone calls and other approved expenses.

Salary: This is a voluntary role and you are expected to pay your own taxes (if applicable)

Hours of work: This is a part-time role of 2 days per week (10 hours) but can be carried out at different times during the week.

We expect a commitment of one year, with the possibility of extension

Safeguarding: Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

Role: Support at the drop-in centre on either a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (12.30-4.30pm) or a Friday (either 10-1pm or 1-4.00pm), either weekly or fortnightly.

We also have a selection of other days open for volunteer opportunitities. 

Purpose: To support adults with a learning disability and/or autism in a social situation to increase confidence and self-esteem, to build independence and to reduce social isolation.

Activities: We provide a range of activities that our members can choose to be involved with, or simply attend to socialise with friends. Volunteers and staff are there to provide support where needed. Please note that this is not a support role and that members who need extra care will attend sessions with their own support/care workers.

Examples of Activities:

• Encourage and support individuals to access and/or engage with activities
• Help facilitate arts and crafts, quizzes, bingo, and other games and activities
• Encourage independence and social skills amongst members by engaging and socialising with them (in accordance with The Hive’s boundaries policy)
• Help in the kitchen to provide refreshments (teas and coffees) as needed

Skills Required: Skills in listening and the ability to communicate with diverse types of people are essential. Patience, enthusiasm, and a non-judgemental mindset are a must. Experience with learning disabilities and/or autism is not a requirement, and full training will be provided to new volunteers.

Hours and Timescale: One session at the drop-in either weekly or fortnightly,, ideally for a minimum of six months. Flexible volunteering can be offered; however, it is essential that volunteers attend sessions that they are scheduled for and notify the session leader if they are unable to attend. This is to ensure the safe running of the drop-in.

Supervision: Volunteers will be supported by their Session Leader, who will provide informal supervision on a regular basis. The Volunteer Coordinator can always be contacted via email if there are any issues.

Benefits: All volunteers receive induction and awareness training on learning disabilities and autism within the first three months of volunteering and have the option to attend additional training offered by The Hive. Full liability insurance is in place. Mileage and out-of-pocket expenses can be claimed if needed. A work record will be kept for each volunteer so that we are able to provide references if requested. Social events, such as skittles, are held regularly for volunteers.

Job description

Indigenous peoples and local communities are grappling with the constant threat of displacement from their lands. The violations of human and land rights, particularly in areas like Loliondo, Ngorongoro, and Simanjiro, have left thousands of people vulnerable and in need of urgent assistance. Following these evictions, many of the Maasai lack vital resources for survival and are unable to connect with the rest of the world. Not1More is working with a partner organisation, TEST, in Tanzania to support their fundraising, advocacy and communication activities.  

Your Role

We are looking for a volunteer who can dedicate time to this role through to December 2024. You will be a part of a team that works directly with Tanzania’s indigenous Maasai, and help to make a difference in key areas such as protecting ecosystems and advocating for indigenous rights.

The main objective is to help the team with external communication activities, including social media account management, website management and Google Ads management. This role requires excellent written communication skills and will suit someone who has an interest and/or experience in managing social media accounts, Wordpress websites, and other external communication activities. 

Responsibilities can include:

• Reviewing the partner organisation’s social media presence.

• Developing and implementing a social media strategy with the partner organisation, including content creation, and posting.

• Training partner organisation staff to manage social media accounts.

• Updating website content, for example news stories and new projects.

• Opportunities to develop other external communication activities.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Previous experience managing a Google Ad Grant account, including ad campaign establishment and monitoring.

• Previous experience training staff to use a Google Ad Grant account, and providing Google Ad campaign reports.

Hours

As this is a volunteer role, time is flexible, but you would be expected to attend a bi-weekly check-in with someone from the Not1More team to ensure are working in the same direction.

We are looking for volunteers to hear children read in schools across Gloucestershire!

Currently, 1 in 5 children struggle to read and write. Our volunteers hear children read, twice a week, on a one-to-one basis. Our sessions help children build their confidence as well as their literacy skills. Can you spare a couple of hours a week to help a child learn to read well? We are looking for a Trustee with Health and Social experience and expertise to join our Board of Trustees. 

You will be required:

• Knowledge and understanding to maintain an oversight on the charity's activities at a strategic level with an interest in advising on health and social care.
• A good current understanding of charity framework in the UK;

• Experience in a Health and Social Care setting would be ideal, specifically in providing guidance to ensure that services can be compliant. 
• Experience with working with the Care Quality Commission and an understanding of the regulations. 
• Safeguarding Adults experience would be greatly valued, with the ability to share knowledge and provide support to ensure that the vulnerable adults we are responsible for are fully protected. 
• Knowledge to assist the charity in delivering Outstanding Care to our Service Users
• An understanding of the challenges faced by our service users who live with Autism or a Learning Disability.

This exacerbates education inequalities and contributes to widening the attainment gap.

About the opportunity

We are on the lookout for ten motivated Volunteer Recruitment Officers to join our team. This is an unpaid and voluntary role. In this shared role, each officer  will work closely together to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to recruit volunteer tutors. The goal is to recruit and retain a pool of at least 200 retired teachers who can dedicate 4 hours to one-on-one and small group tutoring in English, Maths, Science, and/or French for children and young people aged 5-18. These tutorials will be conducted both in person (in Southwark schools) and online. The professionals will be responsible for recruiting, training, supporting, and retaining volunteer tutors to help reduce the education gap and raise the aspirations of underprivileged children and young people.

Detailed Tasks:

1. Volunteer Tutor Recruitment Strategy Document (Candidates 1 & 2):

Candidate 1: Strategy Development

· Collaborate with the charity Director to write a robust volunteer tutor recruitment strategy document.

· Discuss and refine the strategy document with Candidate 2.

Candidate 2: Recruitment Process

· Execute the recruitment strategy developed by Candidate 1.

· Manage all stages of the recruitment process for volunteer tutors, including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.

2. Training and Development (Candidates 3 & 4):

Candidate 3: Training Design

· Design a training programme for volunteer tutors.

· Collaborate with Candidate 4 to align the training programme with the recruitment strategy and volunteer management system.

Candidate 4: Training Delivery & Development

· Deliver the training programme designed by Candidate 3.

· Develop a system to track volunteer progress and collect feedback on the training programme.

3. Volunteer Management (Candidates 5 & 6):

Candidate 5: Volunteer Support

· Establish effective processes for volunteer management.

· Offer guidance and support to volunteer tutors, addressing any questions or issues that arise.

Candidate 6: Coordination & Updating Systems

· Track and record tutorial attendance and ensure that both students and volunteer tutors attend the sessions.

· Liaise with parents/guardians, school teachers and volunteer tutors as and when required to facilitate tutorials (i.e. provide support around rescheduling missed tutorials, tutorial scheduling issues, payment queries, refunds, lateness, re-sharing video conferencing links, sending reminders about tutorial sessions etc)

· Regularly review and update the volunteer management database to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

4. Retention Strategies, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Marketing (Candidates 7 & 8):

Candidate 7: Retention Strategies & Monitoring

· Write a strategy document to encourage volunteers to remain engaged.

· Monitor the quality of tutorials by gathering feedback success stories from students, parents, and school teachers after each session.

Candidate 8: Evaluation & Marketing

· Establish methods to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.

· Collect feedback and success stories from volunteer tutors to share on social media for marketing purposes.

5. Administrative Support and Tutorial Scheduling (Candidates 9 & 10):

Candidate 9: Administrative Support

·  Liaise with the team and rovide administrative support as and when necessary,  including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of volunteer tutors, coordinating tutorials and tracking tutorial attendance, record-keeping, scheduling, and documentation etc

Candidate 10: Manage Tutorial scheduling, Update and Manage Tutors and Students Records

· Update and Manage Tutors profiles on our website (ensure all available tutors are accurately listed)

· Update and Manage Students Records to help us monitor number of tutorials delivered.

· Provide information and guidance to parents/guardians and school teachers regarding  booking tutorials

(i.e handle communications and queries regarding scheduling tutorial sessions through our website, provide information and guidance around booking tutorials)

Volunteer Tutor Recruitment Timeline

The recruitment process for volunteer tutors will commence immediately upon the start of the shared role. The goal is to recruit a pool of at least 200 retired teachers within a timeframe of 6 months. However, the timeline may be subject to adjustments based on the availability and suitability of volunteer tutors.

Work Schedule

This is an unpaid and voluntary role. Each candidate should not work more than 20 hours per week, but there is flexibility to accommodate the needs and schedules of team members.

Qualifications

· Relevant experience in volunteer recruitment or a similar role.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

· Experience in training and development is beneficial. Familiarity with the charity sector, particularly in education, is advantageous.

Our moderators are there to support the young people who play on the Minecraft Funtime Games server. This may mean helping them with things like clearing large pieces of land to build on, making TP points, copy and move builds however not take over any players build unless they have asked for specific help. A moderator should encourage players to create their own builds, you may offer suggestions and ideas to help them become more confident and learn new things.

You will help sort out minor conflicts between players and remind players of the rules of our server and why we have them. Help organise, create and manage events. Align with our values: Respect, Trust, Dependability, Creativity and Empathy

Essential Skills • A love of Minecraft, understanding and be able to play. • Be calm, kind and patient. • Good communication skills both listening and verbal or written. • Must like working with children/young people. • Be respectful to others. • An understanding (or willing to learn) about neurodivergence

Minecraft Funtime Games Rules for Moderators: 1. Do not give out illegal blocks or weapons to players.

a. This includes any blocks not available in the creative inventory. E.g. Light blocks, hacked items from other clients.

b. *Exceptions are barrier blocks, structure voids and NPC spawn eggs if they are for specific builds.

2. Do not change or remove other players builds unless they break rules. Do not allow players to either.

3. Do not change players to have ‘operator’ status when in game.

4. Do promote creativity with fun games/challenges.

5. Do take part in events and games.

6. Do contact an owner when you need a second opinion.

7. Do take screenshots of all problems/Griefing and send to an owner or post in the Discord ‘Griefing’ channel
