CAMDEN PSYCHOTHERAPY UNIT (CPU) - TRUSTEE VACANCY FOR MENTAL HEALTH/PSYCHOTHERAPY
CPU is looking for Trustees with relevant experience, enthusiasm and commitment to join our Board of Trustees in support of the Clinical Director and staff.
We are looking for an individual who has experience in mental health and an appreciation of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. An awareness of the context of longer term psychotherapy in mental health services would also be useful, to help support our thinking about this work in the current climate.
As a CPU Trustee, you will be part of a charity dedicated to providing mental health support to the London community by offering psychoanalytic psychotherapy to those who need free and low fee treatment. We believe that you will enjoy the experience of working with a group of enthusiastic, experienced, dedicated Trustees, clinicians and administrators.
CAMDEN PSYCHOTHERAPY UNIT (CPU)
Camden Psychotherapy Unit (CPU) is a well-established and respected community based charity that has been in existence since 1969. We offer longer term free and low fee psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adults many of whom are on benefits or low income and whose emotional, social and economic backgrounds puts them amongst some of the most deprived in our community.
Since 1969 CPU was funded by the NHS. However, in December 2010 our entire funding was withdrawn. Since then, we have managed to remain open through vigorous fundraising. The importance and effectiveness of CPU has been acknowledged by Big Lottery Fund who has awarded a grant of £39,000 each year until 2018. However, we need a minimum of £130,000 a year to keep operating.
Our daily challenge is to keep raising enough money to ensure the clinic can continue to offer this essential help within our limited resources. Our aim is to continue to provide our clinical services whilst developing a more robust and steady funding base. The CEO and CPU staff are vigorously engaged in fundraising and have full support from the Trustees.
The Trustees need to attend quarterly board meetings and the AGM. We would also be grateful if they could participate on an ad hoc basis, at extra events and offer support and advice based on areas of knowledge and expertise.
Ora Dresner, Clinical Director & CEO would be delighted to hear from you and to answer any questions you may have.
