Shannon Trust supports thousands of prisoners a year to transform their lives by unlocking the power of reading. We inspire and train prisoners who can read to teach prisoners who can't.
Shannon Trust is seeking a motivated individual who has spent time in prison on remand or following a conviction to become a member of our active, committed Board of Trustees.
You will be joining a forward-looking, national charity that delivers the Shannon Trust Reading Plan to prisoners across England, Wales and Northern Ireland via our simple and effective peer mentored approach. You will be part of a wider team of Trustees, employees, and volunteers who provide the framework in which prisoners teach other prisoners to learn to read.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for governance, strategy, performance management, and leadership of the charity.
This is an unpaid role, but reasonable expenses will be paid for travel to meetings and agreed out of pocket expenditure.
