Our Trustees are the people who lead the charity and decide how it is run. Being a Trustee at Age UK Notts means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives. As a Trustee you will make a difference to your local community and through the wider Age UK Network, to society as a whole.
What is the purpose of this role?
Age UK Notts has a Board of Trustees with between 7 and 10 Trustees. Our Trustees ensure Age UK Notts has a clear strategy, and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. The Trustees are the ‘guardians of purpose’, making sure that all decisions put the needs of our beneficiaries first. The Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, the charity’s management and administration.

The Royal Society for Asian Affairs (RSAA) is seeking to recruit three new trustees to support it at an important point in its development, approaching its 125th anniversary in 2026.
The Society has made big changes in recent years, including expanding its international audience, improving its accessibility to members and non-members, modernising its constitution and governance structures, and developing an ambitious new strategy that gives the Society’s original objectives fresh energy in a 21st century context.

What will you be doing?
KidsAid is a child-centred charity. We focus on healing and empowerment for children affected by abuse, family breakdown, illness, and bereavement through to anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicide.
The Vice Chair role includes oversight of a Theory of Change approach by the board, incorporating the responsibilities described below:1) Identify a Theory of Change approach and ensure board understanding, agreement and commitment.2) Assist the board to exercise oversight of the process, are engaged throughout, and support the decisions made.3) Ensure that Theory of Change is embedded within the organisation’s culture and practice from inception, throughout implementation, and informs strategic decisions.4) Ensure engagement with a wide range of perspectives to scrutinise how these can most effectively contribute towards change.5) In collaboration with the CEO, produce a Theory of Change output to reflect the critical thinking which has challenged KidsAid’s values, beliefs, and purpose.6) Assist the Chair in:
- Providing leadership to the charity and the board.
- Ensuring that Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities for effective governance.
- Ensuring board meetings are pre-planned and conducted effectively.
- Working with the Chair and CEO to ensure that sub-committees make effective and timely recommendations to the Board.

Red Balloon is a dynamic education charity with a number of Learner Centres throughout the UK that support young people who self-exclude from school and are missing education because of bullying or other trauma. They provide both an academic and therapeutic programme to enable their students to get back on track and reconnect with society. To lead the Standards and Compliance Subcommittee in providing oversight on behalf of the board in:
- Monitoring the experience of, and standard of service provided to, those who benefit from, or otherwise deal with KidsAid, and make recommendations for change where necessary.

- Monitoring and auditing compliance with Contracts, and tendering processes.
- Maintaining an overview of Due Diligence assessments, whether applied internally or externally.
- Evaluating advisory Codes relevant to KidsAid and making recommendations to the board for change where necessary.
- Periodically review the Charity’s impact measuring, evaluation, and data.
- Ensure that our data capture systems are fit for purpose now and in the future.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Standards and Compliance Lead with the following qualities:
- An understanding of due diligence and charity standards.
- Analytical skills and the ability to interpret and work with a range of data and information and evaluate compliance.
- A willingness to be available to the CEO and staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.

Since the temporary closure of our venue due to fire and water damage, we have been working hard to continue our mission with our 'out and about' activity as well as focussing on reimagining our strategic plan (Plan 2030) and governance.

What will you do in this role?
As a trustee you will provide advice, knowledge and support to the leadership team at We The Curious.
With the steer of the Chair, the board of trustees ensures we pursue our purpose responsibly, are compliant with our governing documents, charity law and other relevant legislation. The board will review and advise on best practice and appropriate policies and procedures and uphold excellent governance.

All Trustees should use their specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the Board of Trustees reach informed decisions in the best interest of We The Curious.
This will involve scrutinising Board papers, leading discussion and providing guidance as requested by the Board on new initiatives or other issues relevant to the area of our work in which the trustee has expertise.
Time commitment
_We hold quarterly board meetings, typically from 4pm to 7pm and one strategy away day per year. Trustees are expected to attend and contribute to all meetings either in person or by joining virtually.
_ Board Meetings are located at the We The Curious offices within the science centre in central Bristol, and once a year at another location around the City.
_ You will also be asked to take part in one of our subcommittee meetings which take place online, at least once per quarter. There are currently sub-committees for Finance & Risk Assurance and Purpose Strategy.
_ You may also be called upon for advice or assistance by the leadership team or to attend occasional events.
Remuneration
This is a voluntary role. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered. Food is provided at the quarterly Board meetings and strategy away days.

You just need to be at least 18 years old. You don’t need formal qualifications, or previous trustee experience or a science background or have reached any stage in your career. We’ll give you training on good governance and opportunities for mentorship. This opportunity would suit someone who is new to governance or hasn’t been a trustee before.

If you join the board, you will have an induction and onboarding experience to support you with your role and get you connected with the rest of the organisation.
If you are a first-time trustee or want a refresher, we will provide you with training on good governance and other topics related to your role. We will also provide you with mentorship from other members of the board.

We are looking for a team player, who is able to support our board to grow the charity over the next few years. Our aim is to break down barriers which prevent people accessing the arts – as well as enriching our community with our workshops, community events and gallery space. An independent charity, The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) has been leading efforts to incorporate the values of environmental sustainability into the health sector since its establishment in 2008. Our desire is to further expand the range of Trustees skills that we can draw upon, to help lead us through this exciting next stage in the company’s development.

We need Trustees that will give strategic direction; help set overall policy; help define goals and set targets; help evaluate performance; and help ensure the charity’s effective and efficient administration and financial stability. We need Trustees who fully understand the importance of being able to access a nutritious meal.

What difference will you make?
Trustees are expected to prepare for and attend up to six Board meetings a year, plus our AGM; Trustees also need to be available to contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis, as needed by the business, and get involved in committee meetings, focusing on People, Audit & Risk, Finance, and Charitable Impact

About the Role
The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. We work with individuals, families, partners, and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
We currently employ over 120 staff, 40% of whom are ‘experts by experience’ and have joined us through our volunteering programme. We are recognised as being innovative and recovery focused, and our services have been highlighted nationally as examples of best practice in the sector. Our portfolio of services and projects are constantly evolving in response to the changing needs of our service users and our local communities. Currently this includes recovery focussed drug treatment services, housing and resettlement support, access to education, training, and employment (ETE), volunteering programmes, support for people engaged with criminal justice services and befriending/mentoring services for people with significant barriers to recovery and community reengagement.
What will you be doing?
Our Trustees play a pivotal role in governing the Bridge Project. They are responsible for setting our strategic vision and priorities, ensuring our financial sustainability, and providing guidance and oversight to our operations. Our Board is committed to excellence, and we are looking for new individuals to bring fresh knowledge and experience to join us in this important work. We’re committed to creating a Board which is representative of the communities we support, bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work. We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates from ethnically diverse backgrounds and from woman, however, we would be pleased to hear from you if you feel you can add value to our Board and would like to help us to make a positive contribution. This is a rewarding role and you do not need to have experience of been a Trustee before, as there will be a comprehensive induction.

You will work alongside other talented Trustees, engage with our staff and stakeholders, and contribute to our collective mission of empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
Our Trustees play a vital role in making sure that the Bridge Project achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the charity has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the senior leadership team to enable The Bridge Project to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.
Time Commitment
We ask that you are able to devote time to attend 4 Trustee Board meetings per year, 4 Sub-Committee meetings per year and 1 Planning meeting. These are a mixture of in-person meetings in Bradford and zoom meetings. Meetings are currently held in the evening. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.

You will collectively be responsible for ensuring that the Chief Officer and his team not only grow our services to meet everyone that needs them, but that the service we provide is of the highest quality. Last year we provided treatment and support to 4,900 individuals.
You will also have an opportunity to expand your knowledge of the voluntary and community sector and give something back to the local community as well as developing new skills.
Tannery Arts is entering an exciting stage of its journey having recently moved into new premises in the heart of Bermondsey, London; we are looking for new Trustees with the right skills, experience and enthusiasm to join our Board. Our Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Tannery Arts achieves its vision. If you believe that you have the passion, commitment and expertise to join us then we would like to hear from you.
As Trustee, you will be responsible for developing and guiding the strategic direction of the organisation as well as using your networks and influence to promote the work and impact of Tannery Arts.
