RANGER CADETS
We are the Ranger Cadets a brand new independent non-profit uniformed youth group that is being set up with an aim of getting young people engaged in their community in uniform, as well as upskilling them to unlock their full potential by providing skills for life, opportunities to get involved in the community and gain new experiences as part of a team, making our communty a much better place.
We are a non-political and non-religious inclusive uniformed youth organisation that is open and welcoming to everyone regardless of their social background.
We're on the look out for a dedicated, hard working, passionate and creative Trainer / Training Designer, who can design and create some fun, challenging and interactive training sessions that motivate young people and/or volunteers, create team spirit and team bonding, boosts confidence and also gives a sense of achievement as well as a sense of belonging to the Ranger Cadets.
We are particularly interested in the following Training sessions to be designed and created, which will include;
- Recruit Training - (4-6 weeks of 1.5 hours per week) for young people who are just joining Ranger Cadets for the first time and will get to know the Ranger Cadets, their role, build team work skills and build a sense of belonging while having fun and enjoyment become part of the local community and allows them to earn young people their uniform and begin their journey with the Ranger Cadets.
- Cadet Syllabus - (3 to 10 hours) that will be fun, interactive and challenging and help develop our young people, giving them the tools, techniques and skills needed in a particular topic or area relevant to the needs of young people such as in Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Self Development, Community Work, Drill/Marching/Parading, First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, and other topics that will earn Cadets badges for their uniform.
- NCO Training (Youth Leadership) - (2 day course = approx 10-12 hours) for young people beginning their leadership journey at Ranger Cadets, where they will understand the role of leadership, leading other young people, peer mentoring and team work, as well as how to plan and organise lessons and activities for other young people that will earn them a promotion in rank to Senior Cadet and the rank insignia for their uniform.
- Officer Training (Adult Leadership) - (4 day course - approx 20-24 hours) for adult volunteers joining Ranger Cadets who will become an Officer In Charge of a Ranger Cadets Cadet Unit, taking on a leadership role, including running a cadet unit, safeguarding, working with young people, dealing with challenging behaviour, leading people and managing volunteers.
You MUST be able to help make Ranger Cadets a huge success by creating fun, engaging, interactive training for our people. We're only looking for a creative and driven fully motivated volunteer to join us and help us create something special.
This is a NON-UNIFORMED role at Ranger Cadets.

We're on the look out for a dedicated, hard working, passionate and driven Deputy Chief Ranger (Deputy CEO), who will co-run our 100% volunteer run uniformed youth organisation and help to make our organisation a huge success as the second most senior person in the organisation.
You MUST be able to help make Ranger Cadets a huge success. We're only looking for a driven fully motivated and go getting volunteer to join us and help us create something special.
The role involves occasionally attending evening and weekend activities and events in full uniform, including visiting our cadet units to celebrate and recognise the hardwork of the unit team and young people locally within their communities.
This is a UNIFORMED role and you MUST be willing to wear the Ranger Cadets Rank Insignia.

JOIN OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
We are seeking professionals, to strengthen the Board at a time of exciting change and challenge. People who are willing to accept ultimate responsibility for directing our affairs and can demonstrate a combination of intellect, communication and listening skills.
We are also specifically interested in those with experience in the following areas:
- Hospitality - running multifunctional venues
- Charity Children and Young People Services
Overview of Trustee duties
- Ensure that the Trust operates in accordance with its Trust Deed and objectives
- Promote the Trust and its charitable objectives
- Support the operation of the Trust by making their particular experience and expertise available to the Chief Executive
- Oversee the operation of the agreed plans during the financial year and hold the Chief Executive and their Leadership Team to account for the delivery of the agreed plans and targets
- Agree the strategy and annual business plans and provide for the long term financial health of the Trust
- Oversee compliance of Company Law and Charity Law, and meet the requirements of the Charity Commission
- To safeguard the good name and values of the Trust • Act as an Ambassador for Brathay
- Be an active member of the Trustee body in exercising its responsibilities and functions, and attend meetings faithfully
Current Board Arrangements:
The Board of Trustees meet four times a year, in person at Brathay Hall. We encourage Trustees to stay overnight the day before at Brathay Hall, to enjoy a meal together. There is also a sub-committee to the Board, the Finance and Risk Committee that meets 2-3 weeks before each Board meeting, and these meetings are virtual.
