Do you have time to support our patients and families? Join the ellenor family and help provide an essential service for our patients.
Location: ellenor Northfleet, local community and The Manor Hotel
Hours: Approximately 2 hours, as many days as you can spare
Times: Drop off times are 10:30am and 3pm for group activities. Therefore availability around these times is required.
Days: You can have a set day, or work on a more flexible basis, whatever you can spare.
Role
You will be picking up patients and bringing them in to ellenor for our Therapeutic Activity groups. We require patients to be brought in to the Hospice or to The Manor Hotel by 10:30am and returned to their own home at 3pm. You are not required to stay for the duration of the activity.
You may drive either your own vehicle or we will provide training to drive a company mini bus.
We also require driver escorts to help on the minibus too, who will assist patients on and off the bus for these activities.
Due to building works at the Hospice Northfleet, patients are currently attending the Best Western Manor Hotel, Gravesend.
Skills
Positive attitude and great people skills.
Full clean driving licence, if using your own vehicle you will need to produce documents for verification eg: MOT, Insurance.
If you wish to use the minibus, training will be provided by KCC, expenses for this will be covered but flexibility to attend will be required.
A DBS certificate will also be required for this role.
Online mandatory training will need to be completed.

As a Volunteer Gardener, you will help maintain and beautify our Hospice gardens, where we provide palliative care and support for children with life-shortening conditions. Considerations:

Due to the nature of the activities and current projects, we are looking for volunteers with skills, in depth knowledge and experience in gardening, either as a profession or as a hobby.
Our Garden volunteers help out on a Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday each week

• Helping with changing the bed sheets

• Other ad-hoc tasks as needed

You will work with respect, compassion and sensitivity towards the children and families, as well as the staff and other volunteers.

Become an activity lead
As a volunteer activity lead you will run a local Re-engage group who meet on a monthly or fortnightly basis. You will deliver or facilitate regular physical activity sessions for people aged 75 and over in community centres, pubs or church spaces.
This is a flexible role and each group will host activity guests, along with our volunteer drivers who pick up and drop off our activity guests.
Activities can vary from boules and skittles, dancing or singing, or coming up with your own activity to get people moving. In some groups we may have another person coming in to run a specific class so we would ask you to facilitate this and support the activity guests who are attending on the day.
You will be required to complete a DBS check for this role, for which Re-engage will cover the cost.
Tasks include:
- Facilitating or delivering an inclusive activity with the focus on physical health and social wellbeing.
- Making activity guests feel welcome to the groups and ensuring people can participate in the activities. Activity groups are coordinated by a volunteer group coordinator.
- Following the guidance in your training to ensure that your group sessions are enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
Your role as an activity lead will be to plan and deliver a session that is achievable for all the activity guests attending. Your session should be inclusive, fun and safely delivered to activity guests. Group activities can stay the same or change on a monthly or fortnightly basis.
This is a long-term voluntary role, so we are ideally looking for individuals who can commit to volunteering with us for at least 12 months.

HOURS REQUIRED: Tuesdays 9:45am - 12:15pm. We are equally looking for those who can commit on a regular basis, as well as those who would want to offer their time on a fixed basis (such as one month, 6 weeks etc).

ROLE SUMMARY:
- To support artists and the Zest Whitstable Coordinator in the delivery of creative sessions for people living with dementia, their family, friends and carers.
- To work directly with participants with complex needs, enabling them to engage with each session.

Bright Shadow’s mission is to enable people living with dementia, and those affected by it, to live well and to thrive. We are experts in creative activities designed specifically for people with dementia to enable self-expression, social interaction and active participation. We do this in a number of ways, including our trademark Zest sessions for people living with dementia in the community.
We offer a range of volunteer opportunities, and are particularly looking for someone to work with our Zest group in Whitstable. This role is a wonderful opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of our participants by enabling those with more complex needs to continue engaging with this close-knit group.
You will become part of a friendly team offering support and guidance, so your positive attitude is more important to us than specific experience. We offer all volunteers dementia awareness and safeguarding training, as well as requiring an enhanced DBS certificate.

LOCATION: Whitstable Umbrella Centre, Oxford Street, Whitstable, CT5 1DD

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Understanding of or willingness to learn about living with dementia, including completing provided dementia awareness training

Enthusiasm to join in with performance and arts activities such as singing, movement and story making wherever possible and assisting participants to engage fully

Work closely with Zest Whitstable Coordinator to deliver a safe and high quality experience

Help Zest Whitstable Coordinator to prepare the room before sessions and clear up at the end where necessary

Help Zest Whitstable Coordinator to prepare refreshments for participants

Help the Zest Whitstable Coordinator with the collection of evaluation information

Assist in documenting the sessions using photography, recording and/or film on equipment provided where necessary

Purpose and Aims of the role:
We are looking for volunteers who can provide a strong foundation to help strengthen their communities by helping Care Experienced children and young people engage in activities to build their skills and confidence and to be included, understood, respected, and valued in their communities.
The Group Work Volunteer role will work alongside our innovative and energetic Edinburgh project team, supporting to raise awareness of Care Experience and supporting activities for young people, providing supportive adults to ensure all children and young people can thrive, bringing communities together.
This role will involve interacting with young people aged 5-17 through supporting and leading on a variety of activities e.g. arts/crafts/sports/general youth work at our fortnightly/monthly sessions as well as at our National events that happen throughout the year. This role will help build community strengths for Care Experienced people and provide social networks to help build resilience and positive outcomes for children and young people.
