Job description

Partner with Watoto and support the Watoto Children’s Choir on the road in the UK

We are looking for Van and Coach Drivers with a heart for mission! Our team of driver support staff play a vital role in facilitating the logistics of the Watoto Children's Choir UK tour. As a driver you will be primarily responsible for driving our van or coach across the UK and getting our choir safe and sound to each venue for their performance. When and where it is needed, you will also provide the choir with valuable support in helping with the set up and tear down of equipment.

The Watoto Children’s Choir exists to share the gospel in a dynamic and creative way and to raise funds and sponsorship for Watoto. With stories of transformation and hope, our concerts continually impact individuals and communities in the UK and beyond. The Watoto Children’s Choir is made up of 18 children and 10 adults from Uganda. Many of the children in the choir have been rescued by Watoto and now live in one of the Watoto villages, after suffering the loss of one or both parents. Since 1994, Watoto has cared for over 5000 vulnerable children and sent over 90 choirs around the world to perform in churches, schools, parliaments and royal palaces.

About the role:

This role is a key ministry opportunity as we seek to bring the gospel to a wide variety of churches, schools and organisations across the UK. You will be in regular contact with the UK office staff and receive accommodation and meals every day. Support drivers will drive most days except Mondays, which is a rest day every week. Most journeys vary between 30 minutes and 3 hours and on occasion, we have a travel day with a longer journey but no performance. While this position involves traveling with the choir throughout the UK and living away from home, it will be a life-changing experience as you interact daily with the choir and become a valued member of the team.

The duration of the tour is five months, from January to June, and we require drivers for our van and coach every year. Whilst the full duration of the tour is five months, we can offer shorter driving periods throughout this period. If you are keen to get involved, but you can only offer a limited time period, please still get in touch. If you are interested in joining our team of drivers for the 2019 tour, please contact us as soon as possible to express your interest, ideally by Friday 30th November 2018.
