Job description

Wuchi Wami aims to address deforestation, social inclusiveness and reduced inequality. We substitute charcoal burning and cutting down of miombo trees due to the traditional bark hive beekeeping practiced in rural Mwinilunga (Zambia) that is environmentally unfriendly with an easy to use, easy to plant modern top bar beehives that are made from pinewood that are environmentally sustainable.

We empower women and youths through our registered cooperative with top bar beehives that are easy to use, PPE and buckets. We also train our small holder farmers with sustainable beekeeping courses and financial literacy skills. We have supported 2500 small holder farmers and among this 514 farmers are fully empowered with Top Bar Beehives to allow them practice sustainable beekeeping. We have so far deployed 2720 easy to plant top bar beehives and this has helped to preserve 8160 trees which covers almost 68000ha on average saving 3 trees per beehive which equates to 177,888kgs Carbon dioxide emissions absorbed per year and we have managed to increase the income of our local small holder farmers for Kwasha indimi from $12.25 to $40.88 per month giving a 70% increment in income revenue.
