Job description

According to Pew Research from a study of 17,000 people in 17 different countries, 70% of people surveyed acknowledged that they were going to be affected by climate change in their lifetime and that they wanted to do more for the climate... but they just didn’t know how. The problem? There is a lack of political momentum and will to enact the existing climate solutions - transition to renewable energy sources, implementing sustainable agriculture practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the food industry, accelerating the roll out of electric cars and public transportation systems, enacting carbon pricing policies to incentivize businesses - at speed and scale. Climate campaigners - the Greta Thunbergs and Vanessa Nakates of this world - have proven to have an outsized impact on climate policy and solutions. They can accelerate the enacting of inclusive and effective climate solutions at scale if they had the financial resources to focus full time on their work. This is one of the most important jobs of our time and it’s not being paid.

HERO is the first subscription platform that allows individuals to directly fund climate campaigners, providing them with a basic income so they can focus on implementing evidence-based environmental policy. On HERO, campaigners form circles, which are groups of 3 to 10 climate leaders working on the same climate policy/solution. For example, the UK Climate Justice Circle is working on a moratorium on fossil fuels in the United Kingdom and the MENA Sustainable finance Circle is working on policies to increase sustainable investments in the MENA region. Supporters can subscribe to a Circle that aligns with their interests and their contributions go towards providing a stable income for these groups. They can explore various global climate solutions on herocircle.app, personalize their impact by choosing their preferred circles, receive real-time updates on their chosen Circle's work, and interact through live Q&As for deeper insights into their activities.

MARKETING

  • Based on feedback and research, improve our communications. This will involve updating emails to subscribers, notifications in the webapp and optimizing other touchpoints in our customer journey to ensure our HERO supporters feel great and motivated.

  • Volunteer 2-3 hours per week remotely
