Winterbourne Medieval Barn Trust needs a Trustee to lead on safeguarding. Following a £1.8M refurbishment programme we are about to re-open as a Rural Craft and Heritage Centre. We will use the unique 14th century barn as a base for a number of educational and community events. We want to ensure that we provide a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
More information on our activities can be found on our website.
Winterbourne Medieval Barn is based to the north of Bristol. Ideally applicants will be locally based but we would consider applicants from further afield as much of the role can be carried out remotely.
Winterbourne Medieval Barn Trust was formed for the preservation of the iconic barn built in 1342. Following a major refurbishment project we are expanding the range of activities as we move to a new future.
What does the Role Involve
The Safeguarding Trustee will work with the other Trustees and the Trust staff to ensure that operational and strategic plans are compliant with safeguarding legislation and reflect “Best Practice”, They would need to ensure that we have identified safeguarding risks and have taken the requisite measures to mitigate or eliminate the risk.
The successful applicant will also participate in other aspects of Trust activities and business.
What are we looking for
We are looking for an additional Trustee to take the lead on safeguarding. Previous experience of safeguarding would be desirable, but not essential as resources and training are available
What difference will you make?
We are likely to receive up to 15,000 visitors each, and the safeguarding of our visitors, staff and volunteers is critical to maintaining trust in our organisation, and this will facilitate the planned increase in activities.
The Trust holds 4 Board meetings a year, normally on a weekday evening. In addition there are other activities, but the majority of these can be carried out remotely
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
