Working with us will help you try new things, meet new people, build new skills, and gain confidence.

Youth Workers

We’re looking for people to facilitate a safe and playful space for our young people to help them discover and develop their vision to create a space in the community that represents them. That may look like playing table tennis or football, crafting, helping with homework or it may be a game that provides space to talk about pressing issues and so many other things. A non-judgemental and flexible approach is vital to allow our young people to flourish.

Our centre will be for the young people, by the young people.

Your job is to empower them to make that possible.

Flexibility

One night a week, once a month, every day we open.

Our Youth Centre is open Monday, Thursday, and Saturday nights from 6pm - 9pm. However much you can help, we are open to finding the way that you and our young people can get the most out of our opportunity.

Passion over Experience

Previous experience is a plus but if you’re passionate about making a difference and keen to learn we would love to work with you. Our experienced team will provide full training and support throughout your time with us and will work with you to shape the right development program for you.

About the role

The Digital Innovations Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the delivery of value for Teenage Helpline through research of emerging technologies, development of proof of concepts and the delivery of new solutions through technology identified. The role involves communication with other Teenage Helpline team leads; managing team workload; creating an opportunities-based technology plan for the charity; researching technology opportunities; overseeing communication and awareness of technology; liaising with departments to develop use cases and developing solutions.

You’ll be at the forefront of our digital transformation journey. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions that enhance user experiences, streamline processes, introduce new workflows and ultimately drive charity growth.

Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with IT Project Managers to ensure digital innovations projects are assigned, worked on and project requirements are understood.
• Exploring new opportunities with low/no code products such as those in the Microsoft portfolio, making the most of opportunities to provide more value for the charity. 
• Forecasting work through research and creation of development plans.
• Promote best practices such as adhering to the project's software development lifecycle requirements.
• Planning initiatives and tracking associated timelines.
• Management of Digital Innovations Team, ensuring work is allocated, managed and tracked effectively.
• Reporting key updates and results to the CIO.

About the role

The CFO holds the overall responsibility of the financial health of Teenage Helpline. Their role is to drive growth in income and manage expenditure to a high level, whilst holding the team to account for their actions. Your role is to maintain professional customs, enforce ethical practices, meet targets, and manage organisation budgets.

• Act as a Director of Teenage Helpline with direct oversight of the Board of Directors. Your key responsibility is always to protect and uphold the reputation and principles of the organisation.

We are looking for talented, articulate people to join us as grants fundraising volunteers. 

As our work develops, we increasingly need to ask funders to support our work – and we could do with some help with creating our smaller grant applications. 

We are looking to grow our activities for children aged five and upwards, new sessions for adults in the community and our youth support coaching programme. We also need funds to help our residents with food and hygiene items – including ‘welcome packs’ for everyone who comes to live with us.

Joining us as a grants fundraising volunteer will involve you in having a small group of trusts and grant-makers to apply to, using our established budgets and cases for support, and – where your applications are successful – providing written and visual evidence to report back on how we’ve spent the money. We want you to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment in being at the heart of making things happen for young people, and there will be occasional opportunities to attend cheque presentations and other events if you would like to. 

This is a role that can be carried out remotely and at times that suit you, although we’d hope to see you spending some time at the YMCA to get to know the work that you will be supporting. 

Your Role

• To get to know our work and the specific projects and items that YMCA Doncaster needs to raise grant funding for. 
• To develop a clear understanding of the ‘Cases for Support’ that you will be using in writing your applications.
• To take on a small group of trusts and grant-makers, submit applications to them and answer basic queries during the application process. 
• To make sure that those who fund our work are thanked, acknowledged appropriately and updated on the difference that their support makes. 
• To carry out grantmaker searches as needed. 
• To attend – if you would like to – cheque presentations and other events on behalf of YMCA Doncaster. 
• To carry out other grants-related tasks as needed.

We are looking for warm, child-friendly volunteers to help with activities at YMCA Doncaster. 

Our programme of activities is quite new and still developing. At present, activities include arts and crafts, music and drama. 

We work with children and young people from the age of 5 upwards, with our activity sessions being led by YMCA staff. 

Joining us as a volunteer will involve helping with preparation and tidying up as well as supporting anyone who needs a bit of extra help to join in. 

Sessions take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the YMCA between 3pm and 8.30pm, and we’re looking for volunteers who can help out with one or both evenings each week. Having regular volunteers will mean that we can grow the activities, offer more places and build some extra informal sessions into our programme. 

We think that this opportunity would be great for people with an interest in working with children and young people, wherever you are in your career – we welcome people of any age over 18. 

Your Role

• To assist children and young people with taking part in YMCA activities. 
• To assist with setting up rooms and equipment / tidying away. 
• To deal with difficulties, including challenging behaviour in sessions. 
• To welcome and escort participants to their sessions.
• To create social media posts / content showing the activities in a positive way. 
• To develop appropriate professionalism and boundaries, and maintain those at all times. 
• To lead by example, showing “Take Part, Have Fun, Be Kind” qualities throughout. 
• To carry out other activity-related tasks as required.

Become an Independent Visitor to be matched one to one with a young person in care in Eastbourne. You will meet once or twice a month to take them out to do fun activities together. This is an opportunity for our young people to develop a healthy relationship with a trusted adult, have fun and share their worries and feelings if they are ready to do so.

We'll provide full training, all your expenses and ongoing support from dedicated staff. You provide the commitment and time. Together we will make a difference for young people.

At the heart of the BSO lies the pivotal role of the Area Lead Volunteer (previously called Area Commissioner). As the guiding force, you'll spearhead the BSO Leadership Team, inspiring and mobilising volunteers to provide exceptional experiences and life-enriching skills to our youth. Your mandate includes ensuring a well-organised and adequately staffed Area team capable of delivering outstanding programmes.

Your pivotal responsibility involves implementing the Area’s 2018-25 Strategy. You will be rallying Area, District and Group Lead Volunteers and their teams to align with its objectives. This entails motivating and supporting volunteers to achieve the Growth, Youth Shaped, Community Impact, and Inclusivity targets outlined in our strategy.

As the leader of the BSO Team, you will bolster Scouting throughout the Area by nurturing volunteer development, enriching section programmes, and providing operational support. Additionally, you'll maintain a vibrant volunteer cohort in the Explorer and Network sections, establishing a well-regarded 14-24 provision within our multiple international communities.

Leading a team of dedicated volunteers passionate about delivering exceptional Scouting experiences to every young person is at the core of this role.

The UK Rep Pool is a collection of 18-25-year-olds from around the UK who are trained to represent the UK Scout Association at events in the UK and abroad. These events vary from the conferences, seminars and workshops mentioned on the website and may be from a single day to a whole week. The UK Rep Pool then ensure that any learning, knowledge and inspiration from these events is brought back to the relevant teams of volunteers at UK level as well as sections they may be involved in locally.

As a Rep Pool member, you will be expected to attend a training day once a year and bi-monthly calls. This will include updates from World Scouting, other events members have attended, and any lessons learnt from projects. Typically, members will also help support other UK national projects which their event experiences can relate to.

What is the role

• The Kids Network is looking for committed, fun and passionate volunteers who live in or near to Lambeth to make a difference to the children of London.
• Our structured mentoring programme supports 8-11 year old's, based across London, to support with their social and emotional development before they transition into secondary school.
• As a mentor, you will hold weekly one on one sessions of 1 -3 hours. You will help to build confidence, resilience and help your mentee to manage feelings through a series of fun and positive experiences and activities.
• The weekly sessions can be flexible between weekdays and weekends.
• You will also get to meet fellow adults in your community through our peer network.
• All volunteers will go benefit from two days of in-person  where you'll gain skills and knowledge to support you as a mentor. (Many mentors share that the skills developed support their progression in the workplace, especially those seeking to gain experience working with children and young people)

What impact will this have?

• Help build resilience and confidence in a child in your local community.
• Learn from fellow mentors with our amazing peer network.
• Help a child as they transition from primary to secondary school.

Expenses

• Volunteers have a budget of £30 per month. We are also able to cover travel expenses.

Training​

• Our induction training will provide you with all the skills and knowledge to support your mentee, including safeguarding, health and safety, child-led mentoring and understanding your role.
• We offer additional training throughout the year to in anti-oppression, trauma-informed practice and lots more to help enhance your mentoring journey and your personal and professional development.

A DBS check is required but is organised and paid for by The Kids Network.

Purpose

An Oxfordshire Youth Hospital Navigator Volunteer will provide support to Oxfordshire Youth staff and young people within our Hospital Navigator scheme. The post holder will passionately believe in the potential of all young people to achieve their goals.

An Oxfordshire Youth, Hospital Navigators Volunteer will be an advocate for young people.

Oxfordshire Youth Hospital Navigators Volunteers do not have fixed hours, but commit to flexible hours to suit their availability and staff needs. Shifts are available 7 days per week.

Join our dynamic team YPSA Team to coordinate the ground-breaking Intervention programme - Hospital Navigator.  With an increase in the number of young people presenting at emergency departments due to serious violence, mental health issues, and substance abuse, we are addressing an urgent need for signposting young people to support services following discharge from A&E.

The Hospital Navigators will establish trust with young people who arrive at the JR hospital due to pre-existing concerns such as substance addiction, mental health issues, personal care, and violence itself. When in the hospital, there is an opportunity for the young person to reflect and be open to intervention. A volunteer in a dedicated Navigator role would request permission to refer the young person to a third-party agency that can provide the necessary specialist support. This moment may assist in redirecting the young person back into the community via a different pathway. The volunteer would connect them with a local support agency/charity that would assist them in reintegrating into the community, building resilience, and providing mentoring to prevent repeat occurrences that could lead to their hospitalisation.

The Navigator Coordinator will supervise Hospital Navigator volunteers. Once the navigator has gained the young person's trust and agreement, they will prepare an assessment and referral form that includes the type of difficulties, services available for referral, and the type of communication the client prefers.

Main volunteering duties

● Work within a busy A&E and the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) within JR hospital setting

● Liaise with the triage nurse team once people are medically cleared, to screen and offer signposting to appropriate services outside of the hospital

● Liaise with the A&E rapid response team to identify patients readmitted multiple times, and offer information to try to help reduce further re-admission

● Require administrative skills and be able to use IT, including finding out information from the internet on where and how to access services.

● Work within a team of people including doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists. 

● Some important skills include good communication with people, and the ability to listen and build trust in a relatively short time frame.

This role profile is subject to amendment following discussion with the post holder and daily tasks will be determined by the needs of the young people and staff.

What you will gain

You will gain valuable experience and receive high-quality training to ensure you feel confident and motivated to support different aspects of Youth work. You will learn about teamwork, building and maintaining groups and recognising group dynamics.

Available training includes Safeguarding Levels 1 and 2 and GDPR. In addition, it will be possible to have further discussions about available opportunities for a Diploma in Youth Work Practice. Please note that some of this training is mandatory and you will only be able to volunteer if you complete this training.

All volunteers must undergo a DBS check.

Equipment will be provided.
