Cure Parkinson’s is a UK registered medical research charity that supports research internationally focused on disease modification in Parkinson’s. Preclinically, our funding remit is centred around Parkinson’s research that is of a disease modifying nature and within 5 years of clinical testing in people with Parkinson’s. Cure Parkinson’s also funds clinical research, particularly trials and sub studies of clinical trials evaluating disease modification in Parkinson’s. Cure Parkinson’s is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and as such we adhere to the principles and guidelines on research management set out by the organisation.
The Cure Parkinson’s Research Committee (RC) is responsible for reviewing research proposals that are submitted on a quarterly basis. The RC is a committee of 10-12 academics and people with Parkinson’s who voluntarily meet four times per year to evaluate approximately 10 grant applications per round. If an application is considered to be within the funding remit and of interest to the RC, they will be sent out for expert peer review. The feedback from those peer reviews will be used by the RC at the next RC meeting (~3 months later) to decide whether to recommend funding the project to the Cure Parkinson’s Trustees.
The main purpose of the RC Chair is to provide leadership to, and oversee management of the RC.
The Cure Parkinson’s research team provides support to the Chair by organising the RC meetings and managing the grant application process (including organisation of the expert peer reviewers).

We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Loughborough and District Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.
Time commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.
To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our brand new Tewkesbury superstore shop. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between.
As a Shop Volunteer with us, you will be:
- Engaging with customers
- Accepting and sorting donated stock
- Pricing donations for sale
- Working on the till
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too) 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but it would be great if you could support in the shop for at least 3 hours a week.

About Care for Veterans
Care for Veterans (CfV) was established in 1919 as the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home to care for soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities. For over 100 years, it has provided long term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end of life care to Veterans and their families. The 62-bed home has been at Gifford House in Worthing since 1933.
CfV are seeking a Trustee with a finance and/or accountancy background, preferably with an ACCA/ICAEW qualification (or equivalent). The successful candidate will join and in time, chair the Finance Committee.
What will you be doing?
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Contributing at four board meetings, a strategy offsite and four Finance sub-committee meetings a year. These are usually held during business hours in Worthing.
· Develop a good understanding of CfV’s operations and the environment in which it operates;
· Monitor the performance of CfV in a constructive and inquisitive way;
· Making their time, skills, and experience available to CfV and its executive (in and outside of regular board meetings) and supporting key fundraising events;
· Average time commitment is 12-15 days per year
What are we looking for?
· You will have a background and/or qualification in finance or accountancy (ACCA/ICAEW or equivalent preferred). You will have strong commitment to the improving the lives of veterans and the work of CfV.
· Previous trustee experience is not necessary as new trustees will be given support and training.
· Due to the work of the charity a DBS check and references will be required.

About Sense Touchbase Pears
Sense TouchBase Pears is a welcoming, accessible environment where everyone can feel connected, included and part of the community. We combine health and social care services with arts, sports and wellbeing activities. And support disabled people to access employment, education, volunteering, and training opportunities.
As an activity volunteer, you will be helping to set up, supervise and interact in some fun activities at the centre from ‘Messy Play’ and ‘Stay and Play’ to craft sessions and supporting with events. This exciting and fast-paced role is a rewarding way to give back to your local community, by helping us to provide affordable and inclusive activities in the area. Please note that at this time we are looking for volunteers aged 18+ due to the busy nature of the role.
Key Duties
As an activity volunteer, you will be an ambassador for TouchBase Pears, and for Sense, as well as being a vital part of the Facilities Team. You will help provide a warm welcome to everyone who comes into the building and help us with our fun and engaging activities.
- Supporting the TouchBase Pears team, working work together to deliver an outstanding experience for every person’s visit.
- Setting up and clearing away activities, including ‘messy play’ and ‘stay and play’
- Supporting with the supervision of activities
- Encouraging participation by interacting with the public
- Helping keep our visitors safe when taking part in the activities
- Adhering to our Health & Safety procedures
- You will be always supported on site during volunteering and a facilities coordinator will be available if you need any support or have any questions. For the weekly role which will be for our Stay and Play, you will eventually be leading the activity without supervision within the room, but a facilities coordinator will always be on site if you need them.
A standard / enhanced Disclosure & Barring check will be required for this volunteer role, which we will support you with.

Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by a genetic leukodystrophy. These are a group of often terminal, rare neurodegenerative conditions, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children. Established in 2004, we are recognised by the NHS and global stakeholders as the "go to" organisation for those affected by these devastating conditions in the UK.
Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to a thriving organisation supporting over a thousand individuals affected by leukodystrophy worldwide.
We are looking for experienced candidates to help develop and improve our existing beneficiary services as well as create and optimise future opportunities for growth.
It is an exciting time to join Alex TLC and we are delighted to be able to offer this opening to join our Board and complement current trustees.
Alex TLC currently employs 23 staff (three of whom are directly affected by leukodystrophy) and runs a charity shop business comprising five shops to support core costs.

Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's.
In Bridport, the group is a core part of the local Parkinson's community. Joining as helper means you will be too - meeting new people and building new relationships.
The group runs a monthly meeting which takes place at St Swithun's Church Hall on the fourth Tuesday from 2pm - 4pm. You could be putting the kettle on, to give a warm welcome to new group attendees, or making sure the meeting runs smoothly.

Who are Acorns Children's Hospice?
A parent never imagines their child will be diagnosed with a life limiting or life threatening condition. But when the unimaginable happens, Acorns Children’s Hospice steps in. Our dedicated teams provide specialist tailored care, including complex medical care, short breaks and emotional and practical support for babies, children and young people and their families, at our three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester as well as in the community.
Why we need you
At Acorns we know that children and young people growing up with a poorly brother or sister often have less attention from parents and more worries and responsibilities than their peers. Acorns has a dedicated Sibling Support Team who run Sibling Group sessions to provide fun experiences for young people and allow them to meet others who may be in a similar situation to them. Sibling activities include arts and crafts, games, sporting activities and fun trips out.
What you'll be doing
- Volunteering alongside our Sibling Support team
- Attending a Sibling Group planning session with our Sibling Support team every couple of months to hear about plans for forthcoming activities.
- Attend a Siblings Group session once a month, joining in with the activities.
Our Sibling Group sessions for the Gloucester area, usually take place at Hartpury Village Hall. Although you may be asked to join us at our Worcester Hospice for initial training and have the opportunity to visit the hospice again when we have siblings visiting or staying with us.
How much time will it take?
Sibling Volunteers complete our online basic training modules and our in-person sibling training session which together take 4-5 hours to complete. Once trained, volunteering with us is flexible but we ask for a commitment of one Sibling Group session per month and hospice-based sibling volunteering on an adhoc basis.

As a collection tin volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting us to raise our profile and fundraise within your community.
You will look after the Magpas Air Ambulance collection tins within a designated area, replacing full tins and returning them to an agreed location. You can also help us by finding new locations in which to place tins. These collection tins are an important part of how we raise money, raising approximately £20,000 per year.
As a collection tin volunteer, you will be expected to:
- Represent Magpas Air Ambulance in a respectful and friendly manner
- Understand the work of Magpas Air Ambulance, having basic knowledge and enthusiasm for our service
- Wear your Magpas Air Ambulance ID badge, ensuring it's visible at all times
- Travel to your collection tins (on two or four wheels). Where motorised vehicles are used, you must hold a full UK driving license, have a road-worthy vehicle with up-to-date road tax, MOT certificate (where applicable) and fully comprehensive insurance.
- Establish the regularity of required tin collections in your area, keep a log of your activities and feedback to the Supporter Care Officer
- Proactively replace full collection tins as needed and deliver them to an agreed location within one working day of collection
- Place new tins in locations within your area, ensuring they are accurately labelled with the location and organisation's name
- Inform the Supporter Care Officer of any new tins placed or any changes, helping us to ensure records are accurate and kept up to date
- Follow all Magpas Air Ambulance policies and procedures, including reporting any accidents and incidents
- Recognise, respond to, and report any safeguarding issues or concerns

Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.
What your role will involve
There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public
- Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
- Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
- Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

- A full induction and ongoing support and guidance from your Shop Manager to make sure you feel confident in your role
- Support to develop new skills, knowledge and experience, in particular of a retail environment, but also skills such as teamwork, customer service, communication and using your initiative
- A reference for other paid or voluntary work (available on request)
