Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help be the friendly face that looks after our customers by greeting them, assisting them and processing their items through the till.

What will I be doing?

Speaking with customers, making them welcome and answering questions

Serving customers at the till

Accepting donations from the public

Putting goods on display in the shop

Maintaining high levels of shop standards, presentation and cleanliness

Generating add-on sales and Gift Aid conversion through high levels of customer service

Completing Gift Aid shop paperwork

Supporting the Shop Manager in carrying out shop security procedures

Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide

What skills do I need?

Strong customer service skills

A really keen eye for detail

Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the team and customers.

How much time do I need to commit?

We’d need you to give around three hours per week if you can with the possibility to do more if you’d like to. However, we appreciate any time you’d like to give; please let us know this on your application form.

What support will I be given?

Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you visit the Shop Management team in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you.

Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to advise and help you select products you can use.

As part of the Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space we are recruiting for volunteers who understand how connecting people to local services improves their mental health and wellbeing. You’ll be welcoming people into the space and helping to support people with mental health problems by signposting them to local organisations that meet their mental health and wellbeing needs.  

You’ll need to be able to establish good relationships with people from different backgrounds and have some understanding of mental health and what resources there are locally.

We’ll support and train you as one of our volunteers, which could be the first step of a new career in mental health.

Permanent Early Years Educator L3 Vacancies - Camden Community Nursery.

Camden Community Nurseries is a not for profit charity which provides affordable high quality care and education in three Nursery sites within the London Borough of Camden.

Full time position of 40 hours per week, hours are between 7.45am to 6.00pm.

An extra day off for your birthday and a minimum of 3 training days per year.

You will be responsible for providing a high level of care and appropriate learning opportunities for children in the nursery.

Displaying the books on the shop floor ensuring books are rotated regularly to increase sales

Enlisting help from local auction houses when needed

Speaking with customers, making them welcome and answering queries

Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide.

What skills do I need?

It’d be great if you have some knowledge of or interest in books, know what to look out for with book publishing dates etc.

A really keen eye for detail and ability to cross reference items across a number of websites to provide the most realistic valuation

Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the team and customers.

Ability to use computer for research

You may need to handle bags and donations from the public and there may be stairs to climb depending on which shop you are based in. If you have any concerns about this, please speak with the Shop Manager when expressing your interest in volunteering.  

How much time do I need to commit?

We’d need you to give around three hours per week if you can with the possibility to do more if you’d like to. However, we appreciate any time you’d like to give; please let us know this on your application form. All we ask is that you give the same hours each week and that you let us know as soon as you can if you’re not able to make it. This’ll help us to plan our week.

What support will I be given?

Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you do try a small number of hours in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you. The amount of hours can be decided between you and the Shop Manager.

Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to run you through the basics of helping in a shop in your first few days and they’ll always be on hand after that.

Many of the standard tasks within the shop involve standing or sitting for periods, handling bags and donations from the public and there may be stairs to climb depending on which shop you are based in. Do you have experience in writing USAID Funding and Tenders? You will be responsible for the overall administration and management support of USAID-funded projects and actively contribute to preparing new USAID project proposals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Proposal Writing

• Mapping of USAID and international funding opportunities and private investors funding.
• Conducting research, analysis and documentation.
• Conceptualisation, visualisation and iterative challenging of new project ideas.
• Design USAID and international projects.
• Consortium-building, introduction to relevant consortia and partners’ recruitment for USAID funding applications.
• Writing USAID project proposals including scientific excellence, societal impact and project implementation, budget, deliverables and planning.
• Submission of USAID project proposals.

Project Management

• Lead on the successful implementation of USAID project deliverables and develop and manage an implementation timetable to ensure delivery of project targets to a high quality and within the contracted timeframe and budget.
• Plan project activities, supporting project leads to ensure detailed project implementation plans are in place, understood by team members and effectively implemented as scheduled.
• Track progress against programme objectives, ensuring full completion as per programme work plans.
• Ensure effective systems to monitor and evaluate the quality of project delivery are in place.
• Develop and oversee implementation of comprehensive and cost-effective project visibility and communication strategies, reaching out to all project stakeholders.
• Ensure quality reporting of project achievements and documenting best practices and lessons learnt in the course of implementation.
• Work closely with support departments (Finance and ΙΤ) to ensure adequate support for project delivery.

Budget Management

• Be responsible for designated project budgets, including monitoring expenditure against budget lines and ensuring funds are appropriately utilised in meeting project objectives.

Degree

• Academic background in any relevant field with a Bachelor’s or/and preferably a Master’s degree.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of US policy and decisions about education, social issues, technology, environment, territorial cooperation etc.
• Responsibility, consistency and adherence to strict deadlines.
• Proven track records in drafting and implementing US funded projects.
• Travel availability
• Administrative, organisational and communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
• Intercultural awareness and sensitivity.

You will help every visitor leave the centre with a deeper understanding of WWT and the work we do to save wetlands for wildlife and people.

At WWT we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close and let it do the talking.

What will you be doing?

· Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors to Martin Mere, providing them with a warm welcome along with appropriate information to aid their visit.

· Conducting specific talks to the public – scripts and training are provided.

· Conducting guided walks of the grounds and the reserve when required – again, training is provided.

· Handing out bird seed to visitors and assisting in bagging the seed.

Assisting with serving visitors drinks and ice-creams from the

Salary: Unpaid 

Commitment: 10 to 15 hours per week, planning and strategy work can be done at times to suit you with occasional time bound interviews and team meetings scheduled to suit your schedule (corporate speak for: ‘we’ll ask when works for you first!), events would require your attendance.

You will work alongside our CEO and Managing Director throughout 2024/5 to:

• Create our events calendar for 2022 in line with our purpose, including workshops, classes, talks, fairs, festivals and anything else you can think of! 

• Build and manage our events team 

• Take ownership of managing the events

• Build systems and processed to plan, execute and review all events

• Report on plans and past events to the leadership team and trustee board

Note: This role has been designed for a year to support in building and managing our events  but we would love to have you longer if it works for us both.

• Be a rogue thinker, willing to come up with bold and innovative ideas. We love creativity and ridiculousness here. 

• Leadership skills are important as you’ll be building a team to work with, so you need to be able to organise, engage and support a team.

About you 

• This is a fast paced, think on your feet kind of job so if perfect if you have bucket loads of enthusiasm and energy and like to learn on the go.

• You need to love people and be able to manage and motivate a team

• You gotta be hyper organised and shit hot at time management

• Any experience in developing and implementing organisational systems and processes is awesome. 

• Need to have a team player mindset for this role, a huge part of it is making sure everyone is excited, engaged and on the same page.

 At WWT, we believe that the best way for people to understand and ‘connect’ with wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close.  You will be directly involved in shaping children’s unforgettable experiences through the warm welcome you give them, your interactions with them and the information that you provide. We need enthusiastic people to help deliver our education programmes to school groups and in doing so ensuring that they feel part of something amazing.

What will you be doing?

• Helping out with school groups as appropriate.

• Leading selected guided learning sessions (session plans provided)/supporting education lead.

• Attending training sessions and meetings when required.

• Being friendly and approachable to visitors, especially children.

• Interacting with children in a sensitive and responsive manner.

• Being aware of procedures regarding child protection.

• Being involved in peer mentoring and observation during guided learning sessions.

Location: Remote

Salary: Unpaid 

Commitment: 10-15 hours per week, work can be done at times to suit you with occasional time bound interviews and team meetings scheduled to suit your schedule (corporate speak for: ‘we’ll ask when works for you first!)

Job Description 

You will work alongside our directors throughout 2024/5 to:

• Design the onboarding and offboarding process for staff and volunteers.

• Roll out and optimize the above.

• Manage recruitment of team members, including being at interviews and making decisions on who to bring on board.

• Build and manage the HR team, including staff and volunteer managers.

• Create and implement dispute resolution processes and policies.

• Develop and manage processes and policies to make working and volunteering with us a seamless, enjoyable and supportive experience for all. 

• Be a point of contact for staff and volunteers.

Why am I needed?

Community is at the heart of everything that we do at Tenovus Cancer Care to help those affected by cancer. Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help create exciting collections to display and sell in our windows and in our shops to help turn unsaleable donated clothes into cash.

What will I be doing?

Creating a product/collection of products from upcycling donated stock items which are not saleable in their current condition

Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide.

What skills do I need?

Creativity

A strong interest in fashion

It’d be great if you have some knowledge of fashion trends

A really keen eye for detail

Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the team and customers.

How much time do I need to commit? 

We appreciate any time you’d like to give, any up-cycling can be completed at home but you will build a relationship with your local Tenovus Cancer Care shop where you will collect materials and your up-cycled items will be sold.

What support will I be given?

Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you visit the Shop Management team in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you.

Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to advise and help you select products you can use.

Becoming a volunteer with Tenovus Cancer Care can be a rewarding experience and is certainly invaluable to the charity and its goals.
