Job description

We’re looking for 2 Stroke Group Supporters, over the age of 18 years old, based at St Mary's Community Complex, 180 Eltham High Street, London, SE9 1BJ.

You’ll be volunteering fortnightly, on Thursdays, 10.15am – 12.45pm.

Greenwich Stroke Club is a friendly and welcoming social and peer support group.

This role would be particularly interesting for anyone with lived experience of stroke as survivor, family member, friend or carer. However all lived experience is valuable and everyone is welcome to apply.

We’re particularly looking for someone who either holds an emergency first aid at work certificate or is willing to undertake a day’s training in emergency first aid at work which does require a certain level of mobility.
There has been no occasion when emergency first aid has been required at the group but it is a recommended Health & Safety precaution.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

About Us

Stroke Association. Rebuilding lives after stroke.

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That’s because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. It happens every five minutes in the UK and changes lives instantly. Recovery is tough, but with the right specialist support and a ton of courage and determination, the brain can adapt.

We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. And it’s a team effort to get there.

We provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives.

Every five minutes, stroke destroys lives. Help us rebuild them and join our team.
