Job description

Help us incubate youth-led social start-ups in Uganda, and grow to elsewhere, by becoming our trustee for risk management. This will include becoming our data protection officer - ensuring compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements - and curating our risk register. 

We're seeking someone with a proven knowledge and interest at least one area of risk management. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of risk management and really help a small and growing international charity.

Duties and Responsibility

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (these generally last 2 hours and are internet calls)
  • Participate in our Governance and Assurance Committee meetings. (Approx. 1 hour/month)
  • Be our Data Protection Officer, responsible for handling of data and reporting to the ICO.
  • Join other trustees in committing to United's 'Give or Get' policy of either giving or fundraising for the charity.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Ability to dedicate at least 2 hours a week to United
  • Basic knowledge of risk management

Desired

  • Previous experience with data protection
