The Road Safety Trust is a grant-funding charity committed to making UK roads safer, achieving impact through the funding of practical measures, research, dissemination and education. The trust has awarded £4m in project grants over the last 5 years to improve UK road safety for all users. We are seeking a new Trustee to join the Board and be a member of our Audit & Risk Committee.
Role summary
All Trustees are expected to:
- promote and develop the Road Safety Trust whilst retaining its core values and aims
- ensure the Road Safety Trust complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, acts within the framework of its governing documentation and in furtherance of its strategic aims
- appoint the CEO and ensure appropriate support and supervision for the post holder, and
- ensure sound management of resources, ensuring that any investment/new activity meets appropriate criteria of organisational aims and objectives.
In addition to the general duties of Trustee Board members, you would be a member of the Audit & Risk Committee which:
- Oversees the production of the organisation's annual accounts and recommends them to the Board for approval;
- Reviews the effectiveness of internal and external auditors and recommends reappointment or change to the RST Board;
- On behalf of the Board, scrutinises any aspect of the work of the organisation against the criteria of best practice and reports as appropriate.

We are looking for a Trustees who are passionate about our work, and who can bring new perspectives and diverse lived experience to our team, to help us to lead change across our industry.
A key role in PiPA’s effective governance. Trustees are the final decision-makers of our charity, and have final responsibility for its success or failure. The Board’s main job is to set direction and have oversight of what’s going on, offering our Co-CEOs strategy, scrutiny, and support. Trustees are unpaid volunteers, although we do reimburse reasonable expenses.
In terms of time commitment, Board Meetings are quarterly and last three hours, with an annual Board Away Day. The time commitment for a Trustee is approximately 1 day per calendar month although this may not be evenly spread across the year.
Over the past few years, like many organisations, our Board meetings have been remote but we are gradually returning to in-person Board meetings. In person meetings have in the past mostly been held in London, and also in Bristol and Sheffield. Future locations will be agreed by the Trustees, to reflect where people are based and taking into consideration the time costs of travelling to in-person meetings.
Trustees serve a three year term of office, and may be re-appointed to serve no more than two further terms, giving a maximum time on the PiPA board of nine years.

About Care for Veterans
Care for Veterans (CfV) was established in 1919 as the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home to care for soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities. For over 100 years, it has provided long term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end of life care to Veterans and their families. The 62-bed home has been at Gifford House in Worthing since 1933.
CfV are seeking a Trustee with a finance and/or accountancy background, preferably with an ACCA/ICAEW qualification (or equivalent). The successful candidate will join and in time, chair the Finance Committee.
What will you be doing?
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Contributing at four board meetings, a strategy offsite and four Finance sub-committee meetings a year. These are usually held during business hours in Worthing.
· Develop a good understanding of CfV’s operations and the environment in which it operates;
· Monitor the performance of CfV in a constructive and inquisitive way;
· Making their time, skills, and experience available to CfV and its executive (in and outside of regular board meetings) and supporting key fundraising events;

Expression of Interest to become a World Horse Welfare Trustee
Volunteering for World Horse Welfare comes in many different forms, from lending a hand at one of our farms, to providing administrative support at our Head Office.
Another way individuals can provide voluntary support is by joining our Council of Trustees – an elected group of professionals responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of our charity. The Trustee Role
As a registered charity, our governance and overall leadership rests with our Board of Trustees, who work alongside the Chief Executive and Director team. Whilst membership of the Board is voluntary, it is a highly rewarding experience and Trustees contribute actively, taking significant responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of our organisation. Trustees are encouraged to contribute fully to the vibrant life of Marwell, with those already in this role finding it extremely fulfilling and are a vital part of the Marwell family. With exciting times ahead, we are looking to complement our existing Board of Trustees with a suitably experienced and highly qualified HR professional. In addition to the generic responsibilities and skills required of all our Board members, Marwell requires someone for this role who can demonstrate extensive HR expertise and wisdom, gained from a career in a commercial or senior not-for-profit environment, operating at Board level. Main Duties

• Always adhere to the Board Code of Conduct, particularly when exercising the functions of the Trustee, or any of its sub-committees or groups.
• Attend Board meetings and sub-committee meetings where appropriate.
• Be an active member of the Trustee body in exercising its responsibilities and functions.
• Maintain positive relationships with senior employees.

- Legal – particularly HR and/or charity governance experience
- Fundraising – the ability to use your networks to unlock philanthropic support
- Media – experience gained in publishing, PR or strategic communications
- Music – a background in broadcasting, recording, rights management or performing
Time commitment
- Full Board meetings four times per year, usually in person at Hampton Court Palace, sometimes in London, usually Wednesday evenings between 5-6.30pm
- Attending Sub-Committees as needed, mostly virtually and around six times per year, with calls and correspondence in the interim
- Attending occasional events and services during the year at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace
Term of office
Trustee appointments are for three years. They may serve second terms, if approved, and have this extended further in exceptional circumstances.
