Purpose and Aims of the role:
We are looking for volunteers who can provide a strong foundation to help strengthen their communities by helping Care Experienced children and young people engage in activities to build their skills and confidence and to be included, understood, respected, and valued in their communities.
The Group Work Volunteer role will work alongside our innovative and energetic Edinburgh project team, supporting to raise awareness of Care Experience and supporting activities for young people, providing supportive adults to ensure all children and young people can thrive, bringing communities together.
This role will involve interacting with young people aged 5-17 through supporting and leading on a variety of activities e.g. arts/crafts/sports/general youth work at our fortnightly/monthly sessions as well as at our National events that happen throughout the year. This role will help build community strengths for Care Experienced people and provide social networks to help build resilience and positive outcomes for children and young people.

We are looking for volunteers to join our street outreach team. We go out in Central London 3 evenings a week and give out hot drinks and food to people who are sleeping out. We see regular guests and have a chat, check they're ok and see if there's anything that we can bring them.

The group allows Care Experienced children and young people to build connections with others and provides a platform for them to raise their views and experiences to promote change.
This role will involve interacting with young people aged 12-17 through supporting and leading on a variety of activities e.g. arts/crafts/sports/general youth work at our fortnightly sessions as well as at our National events that happen throughout the year. This role will help build connection and belonging for Care Experienced young people and provide a platform to allow them to influence positive change. Providing transport to young people to and from the fortnightly sessions is a key need for the group.

Volunteer with Citizens Advice Staffordshire North and Stoke on Trent
What will you do?
- complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role.
- talk to clients over the phone to explore what problems they’ve come for help with. If you are able to speak or hear over the phone you can train to give advice by email or webchat.
- find information about the clients’ problems and help them to understand their options.
- support clients to take action to resolve their problems. This might include drafting or writing letters, making phone calls, or referring the client to another organisation.
- write a summary of the clients’ problems and what action you’ve taken.
- look out for problems’ that are common, or are unfair, and write a short report about the problem or a letter to an elected official like an MP, AM or local councillor.
Some examples of what you could do:
- explore what benefits a client is entitled to and help them to complete a benefit application form.
- help a client who has problems with their landlord to understand their housing rights.

No prior experience is necessary in these areas as you’ll receive full training.
For individuals who are doing advice giving roles, and who are also training to be a solicitor, if you started training to be a solicitor before 1st September 2021, you may be able to get up to six months reduction in your training contract.
If you started training to be a solicitor after 1st September 2021, you may be able to include time spent volunteering (or working) in advice giving roles as part of (or all of) your qualifying work experience. See Solicitors Regulation Authority for more information.
What do you need to have?
You don’t need specific qualifications or skills, but you’ll need to:
- be friendly and approachable.
- be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own.
- have good listening skills.
- have good verbal and written communication skills.
- have good maths and IT skills.
- be able to understand information and explain it to others.
- be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection.
- be willing to undertake training in your role.
How much time do you need to give?
We ask for a minimum of 3 hours per week, for at least 12 months.
Many of our volunteers give one full day or two half days per week.
Valuing inclusion
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds, and we particularly welcome applications from racially minoritised people/people of colour, disabled people, people with physical or mental health conditions, LGBTQ+ and non-binary people.

Why we need your help
Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their
families. As part of our care we provide transport for our patients to and from their homes and
our Hospices.
We’re looking for volunteers to help our patients using our minibus. You’ll assist the driver in
mobilising patients in and out of the bus, chat and socialise with the patients, and help ensure
that they are safe and comfortable at all times.
This role does not involve driving – if you’re a sociable, friendly and caring person interested in
volunteering with Marie Curie, we’d love to hear from you.
What we need you to do
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
• Assist driver with mobilising patients to and from home and entry to and from the vehicle.
• Assist driver in ensuring that all passengers are carried safely, paying attention to seat belts
and wheelchair equipment.
• Monitor passengers during journey and report any problems to driver.
• Socialise with passengers during journey.
• Ensure safe storage of equipment and baggage during journey.
• Adhere to the policy of patient confidentiality whilst communicating
openly any observations of change with the Day Care Team Leader.
• Help with other related tasks when necessary

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Stockport and South East Manchester Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need.
Time commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

• Communicate with patients and families how we use their feedback and ideas to improve
services, where appropriate.
• Work with the Clinical Nurse Managers to highlight any issues and concerns about the care
provided in their services.
• Relay positive feedback to Marie Curie Nursing staff and volunteers.
• If comfortable, conduct semi-structured interviews to understand peoples’ lived
experiences of dying, death, and bereavement.

We are looking for Activities Coordinators to help support clinical staff in the hospice by providing a welcoming and safe environment for men affected by terminal illness and by coordinating activity sessions.

- Provide a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere which is appropriate for activities
- Welcome and chat to patients, carers and widowers
- Plan and deliver a programme of sessions for Men's Shed attendees for the group you are leading
- Promote the Men's Shed within the hospice and the local community
- Identify equipment and material needs for activities and discuss with volunteer line manager
- Help with other related tasks as necessary

Our charity shops rely on generous donations made by the public to raise crucial funds for Marie Curie. From clothes, homeware and books, to CDs and DVDs, we sell a wide variety of products.
We are looking for volunteers to help us sort through all these donations, pick out the best items and prepare and sell them to our customers. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers we could not provide our customers with high quality items at affordable prices. This allows us to raise funds so our nurses can continue to provide care to terminally ill people and support for their families.

- Sort through donations, being aware of the possibility of a hidden gem and better quality brands
- Prepare items for sale by checking, hanging, steaming, sizing and pricing them
- Work on the shop floor and provide excellent customer service to our shoppers
- Operate the till
- Help out with basic housekeeping to keep the shop clean and tidy

Our mission is to empower people to grow their own food at home or in a community environment. We are on the lookout for a passionate and creative Marketing Manager to volunteer with us. This individual will play a pivotal role in launching our newest initiative, Seedlings of HavenWeb, aimed at introducing our community to the joys and benefits of home-grown food. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in crafting and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy to attract new customers and spread our message far and wide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Marketing Strategies: Craft a strategic marketing plan that encompasses various channels and approaches, including local markets, social media, partnerships, and more, to maximize our outreach and impact.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the HavenWeb team, providing clear and detailed instructions and updates to ensure cohesive efforts and shared success.
- Engagement and Outreach: Engage with our community and potential customers through innovative and compelling campaigns, fostering a deep connection with our mission and offerings.
- Budget Management: Efficiently manage and allocate a limited budget to ensure the most effective use of resources in achieving marketing goals.
