Best of all, coming on site offers you the opportunity to meet our lovely rescues with lunchtime cat socialising and the occasional office dog!

Remote role, with regular travel across West Yorkshire and North East England.
We are Zarach: the children’s bed charity. Our story and our work have captured the nation’s attention, with regular appearances on local and national TV, and with our 2023 Christmas Appeal being supported by The Independent. Our charity was built upon voluntary endeavour and over the last six years we have continued to be incredibly well supported by people who choose to give their time, effort, skills, and experiences as volunteers to our mission of seeking to end child bed poverty in England.
We are honoured and humbled to have people volunteer with us on both a regular and more ad-hoc basis, and across different areas of the work we do. In the coming years we are seeking to respond to the increasing problem of child bed poverty through:
-
Providing more bed bundles to children.
-
Providing additional support for families.
-
Using our experiences and learning to influence for change.
There are a significant number of volunteering opportunities we want to provide, and we are now looking for a Volunteer Development Officer to take this vital area of our work forward.
The ideal candidate will have experience of successfully supporting the promotion of volunteering opportunities, recruiting volunteers, overseeing volunteers’ induction and core training, and in the ongoing engagement and recognition of volunteers and their amazing contributions.
The main geographical areas (whilst not exclusively) of focus for us in the coming period are across the M62 corridor and the North East of England. The postholder would be required to travel across these areas but also beyond this, as we seek to then support more children in areas of greatest need across England in due course.
If joining a nationally captivating charity, that is in a period of exciting development, is what you’re looking for, please:
-
Look at the job description and person specification for this role.
-
Read through the supporting slides about our Mission, Values and Vision.
-
Look at us across social media to find out more about our work and story.
If you would like to apply for this role, please submit an up-to-date CV and a supporting letter (of no more than three pages in size 12 font) about why you would like to join Zarach and how you fulfil the requirements of the role. The deadline for applications is Sunday 7th April at 5pm and we won’t be able to accept applications after this time. We will be looking to hold interviews on 18th April.

We’re seeking a Volunteering and Development Manager to join our fantastic Volunteering and Participation team!
As our organisation grows we want to ensure we are consistently providing a great experience for volunteers and lived experience participants. In the first year the focus will be on introducing best practice and consistency by developing and introducing new processes and tools. In the second year the focus will move to growing and diversifying our volunteer and participant numbers across all areas.
We have brought the areas of volunteering and participation of people with lived experience in our work, together in this role and team. We see these areas as having some points of distinctions, and also that many of the approaches and policies underpinning them are the same. We want to prioritise the same enabling and impactful approach, which values diversity, in both.
PCUK has made a commitment to diversifying and building the participation of people with lived experience across all levels of our work. Our recent audit has demonstrated we already do lots of great things, but we are committed to doing more and to ensuring that people with lived experience are regularly involved from the start in shaping projects and working alongside staff with learnt experience and in meaningful ways.
We are a new team and you will work closely with the Involvement and Volunteering Development Services Manager, who provides the strategic direction for the team, and the People and Culture Administrator who handles volunteer and participation enquiries.
This is an exciting time to join, with lots of opportunity to make your mark and to work with different teams on diverse areas of work and projects. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who consider themselves to be from backgrounds which are under-represented in the charity sector.

- Is excited by the opportunity to build new resources and increase the diversity of opportunities and those participating in them.
If this sounds like you – we’d love to hear from you!

We want our workforce to achieve their potential, understand their contribution and feel proud of their impact by creating a culture and organisation that is genuinely inclusive by advancing equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging through our policies and practices.
We believe diversity drives great outcomes by encouraging the different points of view that come from a diverse workforce. We want to hear from and engage with people whose experience of dealing with this disease may be very different depending on their individual circumstances and background can think of no better way to do this than by ensuring that this role fully represents our intent therefore we are especially keen to consider applications from suitable applicants who consider themselves to be in areas that appear underrepresented within the charity sector.
