We are looking for volunteer drivers to join our hospice team and assist patients with getting to and from appointments. By collecting patients from their homes and bringing them to the hospice and then ensuring them get home safely, you will have a key role in the team.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Collect patients from their homes on a prearranged day and time and bring them to the hospice
- Return patients back home at the end of the day services session, out-patient appointment or discharge from ward
- Ensure patients gain safe entry to their home
- Refer all medical, social and personal problems expressed by patients to staff
- Help with other related tasks when necessary

Healthwatch Wandsworth - ‘Enter and View’ Community Researcher
Healthwatch Wandsworth is looking for volunteers who are interested in community research and being part of the Enter and View team.
The role of Healthwatch is to work with the local community and users of health and social care services to ensure that these services are responsive to local needs and delivered to a high standard. We plan visits to services and talk directly to clients and users about their experiences. This is fed back to the managers of the service and we follow up on any actions that may be taken in response to our findings.
One of the ways that Healthwatch can contribute is through its' legal powers to `Enter and View` premises such as hospitals, day care centres, or residential homes to observe the quality of care and to speak with patients, service users and carers.
We need volunteers who, through their work, volunteering, or personal experience, understand health and care services. We particularly welcome people who have personal experience of using services and reflect Wandsworth's diverse population.
Healthwatch Wandsworth's authorised representatives on the Enter & View team will be provided with clear guidelines about the premises they are going to visit, the purpose of the visit, and the reporting arrangements. Relevant training and support will also be offered.
As an ‘Enter and View’ Community Researcher you will
· Take part in an induction process.
· Attend training/briefing sessions.
· Visit health and care premises such as hospital wards, GP surgeries or day centres on a pre-arranged basis.
· Talk to the service users and staff that you meet on the premises and document their views.
· Observe and record what you notice.
· Undertake work face to face with members of the public, occasionally it may be over the telephone or an online meeting.
Essential Role Criteria
· Aged 18 or over.
· Knowledge of health and social care services, either through work, volunteering, or personal experience.
· Excellent inter-personal skills, tact and diplomacy.
· The ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.
· Ability to listen to what people are saying and reflect these in notes and reports in a non-judgmental way.
· Ability to travel to various locations in Wandsworth (expenses will be reimbursed).

Role title:
Volunteer Classroom Assistant (Online) – English, Maths, Science
Where:
Online (Zoom) / Nova New Opportunities, 2 Thorpe Close, W10 5XL
When:
Immediately, minimum commitment of 3 months.
Support 1-2 classes a week (45 minutes per class).
English classes are currently held on Mondays and Wednesday between 16:30 and 19:15.
Maths and Science classes are currently held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 16:15 and 19:45.

Purpose of role:
Support the Nova Family Programme tutors in facilitating online home school sessions.
Role Description:
This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering online English, maths and science classes (for young people at Key Stage 2 and 3). With the disruption of Covid-19, many families have been thrown into the unknown world of home schooling – made even more challenging when your own education isn’t up to scratch or English is your second language. We are delivering a free programme of online home school support to those who have been most negatively impacted by being out of school. Now that Schools have reopened, we will be continuing these sessions to ensure that learners do not fall behind as Schools focus on catching up on lost learning. The aim is to support children who may be falling behind with their studies and mitigating as far as possible the widening attainment gap.

Purpose of role:
With an ageing population, more and more older people are at risk of isolation and loneliness as partners and friends pass away, family members move away and the community around them changes at a fast pace. As a Befriender, you will become part of the solution to tackling the issues of isolation and loneliness by developing strong relationships with clients and encouraging them to engage in a variety of ways.
Main activities/tasks:
- Visit or call an older person once a week for around an hour
- Spend time getting to know them and understand what things they may like to do at home (e.g. chess, knitting, reading)
- Offer healthy and fun conversation and encourage them to talk
- Give support to enable them to get out in the community and encourage participation in activities
- Promote healthy living and wellbeing
- Accompany them on visits out of the home e.g. going for a walk, shopping
- Support them to find information
- Make monthly reports on visits carried out

Our Vision: Through an exceptional Central Foundation education, every student learns, develops, and grows so they can reach their full potential.
Central Foundation Schools of London (CFSL) is a charitable foundation which supports two amazing voluntary aided Schools based in the East End of London – Central Foundation Boys’ School in Islington and the Girls’ School in Tower Hamlets. Between them the two schools support over 2,500 young people from highly diverse communities and backgrounds.
The Foundation has just completed a major building redevelopment project with the Boys' School and is about to start a programme to extend the Sixth Form facilities and provision at the Girls' School. Beyond that the Foundation has just embarked on its first 3-year strategy which aims to leverage our skills, funding and influence to collaborate with our schools to strengthen their education provision and outcomes.
The Foundation are seeking four new Board members to serve for an initial term of four years. We are particularly keen to appoint:
- Two new trustees with experience of leadership the secondary education sector and/or a strong understanding of education policy and the wider education context in which our schools are working.
- A further Board member with a strong background in finance who would also serve as a member of our Finance & Audit or Investment Committee, or possibly both.
- A new trustee with a keen interest in creating opportunities for young people potentially through experience in careers development, corporate partnerships, fundraising or income generation.
The Foundation Board meets in person quarterly and has an annual away day. As well as being members of the Board, trustees are asked to join one of the sub-committees or project groups - these meetings are usually hybrid with one in-person meeting each year.
