About the role
We’re looking for a confident Editorial Manager who is driven by insights and input from the Parkinson’s community, to develop and oversee the editorial production process and management of our key health content products and channels across the charity.
You’ll play a lead role in creating, editing and managing high-quality, engaging, and accessible content to help people in the Parkinson’s community manage their symptoms and live well with the condition.
What you’ll do:

Manage the planning, scheduling and production of new and existing health content in different formats, across all channels (including web, email and print)

Act as Editor of our flagship information and support magazine The Parkinson in print and digital

Generate ideas and produce content that is relevant to readers and that meets their needs

Use data and audience insight to deliver accurate, accessible and informative content for a diverse audience
What you’ll bring:

Excellent writing and editing skills, with extensive experience of creating, improving, publishing and managing high-quality, accessible health content in different formats

Knowledge of best practice in health information production and relevant standards, including PIF Tick

Strong understanding of insight techniques and experience of involving users and data in developing and evaluating content

Strong project management and prioritisation skills, with experience of managing feedback or signoff processes

As a key member of a small and busy team, the job-holder will manage and oversee all aspects of HQ communications including developing and managing day-to-day online communication via social media channels, creative ideation and management of communications projects (including work with corporate partners), proactively managing media relations, overseeing all external-facing content such as our website and annual Global Review, and supporting our programme of UK-based events. The job-holder will lead our annual flagship #ThisLittleGirlisMe social media campaign, building on the success of the campaign in previous years, and support our country teams to optimise the global visibility of the charity. Our ten-year anniversary in 2026 provides an exciting opportunity to amplify both our achievements and future strategy, and this role will play a central part in creatively ideating and planning for this.
We are looking for someone with significant experience working in a wide-ranging communications role, who can work effectively independently as part of a small team and brings a creative and agile approach to working in a non-profit environment. There is significant flexibility and autonomy in the role, with the opportunity to help shape how this team operates, and the potential for impact is significant. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Essential
-
Five+ years of experience in a communications role, ideally (but not necessarily) in a non-profit and/or international organisation

Extensive experience of managing external communications, including social media, web presence, and press
-
Proven experience of taking campaigns from ideation to delivery, with measurable success

Comfortable working independently within a small team

Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders, including motivating and mobilising volunteers

A proactive and creative approach to communication challenges, especially where resources are limited

Passionate about the aims and values of Inspiring Girls International
Desirable

Knowledge of Canva and Squarespace

A working understanding of Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects and/or DaVinci Resolve

Experience in managing freelancers, specifically briefing video editors

We are proud to be partnering with a great charity that aims to improve the quality of life of people experiencing chronic rheumatic diseases by providing support and facilitating access to treatment. They are looking for a proactive Website and Digital Marketing Manager to help raise awareness and drive action across audiences on full-time basis (35 hours a week) for 10-weeks.
Offering flexible hybrid working (2 days a week in London office).
You will support the delivery of a new discoverability, engagement and growth strategy for the website and digital audience channels. You will cover the management, optimisation and advise on website design, content and marketing tactics with a particular focus on the completion of some timely workstreams around user experience and accessibility. You will work across the whole charity to support and advise colleagues on their scheduled website requirements and developments. You will also work closely with the Digital Systems team and web development agencies on the upgrade and maintenance of the website, prioritising tasks and monitoring activity. You will be instrumental in supporting an increase in engagement against strategic communications objectives across multiple channels with a clear focus on improving user experiences and ensuring the delivery of the right message to the right audience. You will also manage the team, including setting the workload and schedules, and liaise with the Digital Communications Officer, the Website Editor, and the Communications Analyst. You will also attend regular meetings with the Strategic Communications team, website development and search optimisation agency. You will manage the Umbraco CMS system, support the user experience study, and build recommendations.
This role requires extensive website and digital marketing experience, across a range of disciplines, including paid social media, search marketing (SEO/SEM), Search engine optimisation, Paid Search (including Ad Grant, pay per click and display) social media campaign analysis, email segmentation, web friendly and organic content management. The successful candidate will have knowledge of Content Management Systems (i.e., Umbraco) and Google Analytics 4, Google Ad Words/ Ad Grants, Google Tag Manager. They will also have experience of working on multiple and complex multi-channel digital marketing projects at once.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and creative digital communications professional to join International Alert’s global Communications team.
The role will shape and guide Alert’s digital strategy, building our online profile and reaching our target audiences through engaging and accessible content across our global social media channels, website and newsletter.
They will lead on identifying, setting and monitoring the digital priorities for the global Communications team, in support of the communications strategy. And they will collaborate with our country, regional and policy teams to help them communicate about peacebuilding in the places we work and on key topics such as the climate crisis, women’s and LGBTIQ+ inclusion, and ensuring peaceful economies.
The role will have a particular focus on managing our global social media channels and engagement, managing our global website and leading on our digital marketing, including our newsletter and social media advertising.
The successful candidate will be a creative and experienced content creator, with a talent for engaging audiences online and presenting complex ideas in an engaging and accessible way. They will be organised, with experience of digital project management and planning and managing multiple digital platforms, including social media channels and email newsletters.

Role duties and responsibilities:
Oversee our digital strategy
- Lead on identifying, setting and monitoring the digital priorities for the global Communications team, in support of the communications strategy.
- Advise programme teams and global staff on how to use digital communications to meet their objectives and reach their target audiences.
- Take the lead on communications plans for specific projects.
- Monitor and share key metrics to help inform our approach to digital communications.
- Stay abreast of the latest digital trends and approaches.
Manage our social media channels
- Manage our global social media channels and engagement.
- Produce high-quality and engaging social media posts about our work.
- Create images and video content for our social channels, and branded templates for country teams to use.
- Champion the use of social media among colleagues to help further their objectives.
- Advise and support our country and regional teams on using and setting up national social media channels.
- Use analytics to inform our use of social media.
- Manage the social media content schedule.
Manage our website
- Manage our global website using the WordPress CMS.
- Project manage ad hoc and longer-term development changes to the website.
- Manage the relationship with our external web support agency.
- Ensure the top-level webpages are engaging and kept up-to-date.
- Liaise with external translators to ensure consistency across our language sites.
- Ensure the website is optimised for SEO and that content editors follow good practices.
Lead on digital marketing
- Lead on the production of our newsletter via Mailchimp.
- Lead on and deliver social media advertising across our social media channels.
- Support country teams with their use of digital advertising via their social channels when needed, for example by providing trainings or support with in-country digital agencies.
- Maintain the Google Ads grant to ensure it is used effectively and efficiently.
Support on content creation
- Write and edit stories, blogs and videos about our work when needed.
- Support programme teams with the production of video and other multimedia content about their work.
Contribute to the effective working of the team and Alert generally
- Lead on the delivery of periodic webinars, including setup, promotion and running.
- Provide occasional training to staff on key subjects relating to your role.
- Collaborate with peer networks and coalitions.
- Maintain relationships with programme teams to ensure regular collaboration.
- Contribute to team-wide communications and knowledge management.
- Participate in organisation-wide events and discussions on related topics/projects.
- Any other tasks as may be reasonably required.
